A few Q's about the 2003.5 cars

Hi, I am new to the forum and I have a few questions about the 2003.5 speed protege. First is can you get it in orange? Second what are the major diffs between the 2003 and the 2003.5?

2003 came in black & orange, and has foglights.

2003.5 came in yellow, silver, gray, and blue. No foglights and a larger spoiler.

There's some interior differences as well. 2003's have orange stitching in the seats & steering wheel, 2003.5's have yellow. The shift knob, pedals, and floor mats are also different.

Differences are only aesthetic...they both have the same engine/trans/suspension/etc.

You cannot get it in orange. The only differences are the exterior and interior. The 2003.5 have the Racing Harts with a dark finish on it, new front end exclusive to the model (without fog lights), new rear wing, and different side sills. The interior's only difference is Yellow stiching instead of peach, Mazdaspeed shifter & pedals, and silver needles for the guages instead of peach.

The seat material is different. The center pin of the needles in black on the 2003 and silver on the 2003.5. Floormats, stitching color, shifter, shift boot, pedals, spoiler, fog lights, lip, rear bumper guard, and wheels are all different. The exhaust is different. Under the hood, things are mostly the same, but there are some very slight differences, mostly in making it easier to get to things in the 2003.5.

As for color, 2003 only had black and orange. 2003.5 is in the colors already mentioned.

Aren't the seats stiffer in the 2003.5's than the 2003's as well ??

everyone forget's the clutch

the clutch is better ( stronger ) on the 2003.5

Seats are the same, just covered in a different material.

No. I don't even open the hood. The outside is stock. The only thing you can see is a front mount intercooler and a set of 16 in volk TE-37 rims.

You can replace teh manifold and get any of the kits available for the regular protege. Spoolin has a specific upgrade kit and you can drop a T28 in place of the T25.
