A/F Gauge... what is the point?

Please remember that every application is different; what works well for a DSM may not work at all for an MSP.

Instrumentation is the cheapest insurance you can buy when you're tuning a car for performance. You have to know how to interpret the information - of course - but it has to be there for you to do so.

how true this is;)

If he doesn't plan to increase boost, why would a fuel pressure gauge be necessary on a stock fuel system'd car? I have mentioned earlier- for the cost a boost and o2 gauge combo can't be beat for moderate tuning. Hell, also like I mentioned, my talon is/was 487 whp and those are the ONLY two gauges I added to it. Wide band's kick ass for dyno tuning, but a regular AF gauge is nice for monitoring rich/lean at WOT at a glance on the street.. Let it dance all around at cruise, as long as it is where you want it at WOT, that is all that matters :).

thats why at the end of my post i stated that he doesnt NEED itfor a stock set up. but i get your point ;)

did you have a logger at least?! was it a 1g or 2g

Haltech car, and yese the haltech was tuned using only the AF gauge until the car was tuned on the dyno and I was around 20 HP from my max HP just by using the AF gauge..

What works well for one turboed car with an O2 sensor works well for any turbo car with an O2 sensor.. I left out all the Grand Nationals, Turbo Trans Am's, Saabs and Volvos- oh yeah and the Integra we have running 14 psi on a STOCK 190k mile motor that were all tuned just by AF gauges... The Integra has been running at 14 psi on pump gas for over two years now, so apparently I know what I am doing with turbo cars :) :) :)....

Like you mentioned, you need to know how to interpret the info :). The same holds true for any gauge you put in there, otherwise it is just a bunch of dancing lights and needles...
