A/C Problem?? Help

well to start out my ac blows cold air..the thing is the ac will randomly turn off and on..usually it just turns off and i have to hit the ac button, but sometimes i press the button it wont turn on, so i have to switch the fan settings then it may come on...this is getting really annoying....has anyone had the same problem and or know what i should do to fix this.,.thanks for the help

how many miles are on it? is it a 3? 2.3 or 2.0? details man, be specific. sounds like it could be either the clutch or the circuit that engages it. 5% chance the compressor is overcharged and is locking up, forcing the clutch to disengage. like i said, give some more details and we may find a solution.

if the fan is set to the off position, the a/c will not come on until you put it to an "on" position. That is normal.

yeah sorry its a 2004 2.3 hatchback 5spd with 80k miles...when i got the car a month ago it wouldn't do this..then week after week it has progressively gotten worse...thanks for the help
