"A Brief History of America"

Micheal Moore is a complete Jack ASS. He should be dragged out of his house and shot in the head. Dumb ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey some people think Monty Python are jack asses but they're still funny as sh*t. The show Jack Ass and the Man Show can be taken a hundred different ways too...but still..again, funny as sh*t sometimes. Humor is in the eye of the beholder so to speak. Some of it can be kinda offensive but.... still funny. Take JoE Cartoon for instance...

Yeah, but Monty Python isn't a documentary...

Read section 3.

Anyways, I thought that "Bowling" was kind of stupid, but worthwhile to see if you know some things about it.

I thought the movie was pretty funny.....I'm not a fan of Michael Moore either but he sure did make Charlton Heston sound really stupid in that movie.

The whole K-Mart thing was really stupid. I mean, does this guy actually think that "bullet availability" translates into less gun crime? What a maroon. He whored those Columbine kids for some press....it was kinda sick.

At least he did offer the counterpoint that there is a very high rate of gun ownership in Canada and there's no gun crime.....it kinda went against his other points that gun controls are the answer in the U.S. In the end he seemed to conclude that we're just a wild west kind of culture here and I tend to agree.....and I wouldn't want it any other way.

Bowling For Columbine is a great movie and I think every highschool student should be forced to watch it.

One line that sticks in my head from the movie is when one of the parents of the victims is giving a speach and he says something along the lines of "A <make> <model> semi-automatic uzi is NOT designed for or used to kill DEER". (the same make and model that was used to gun down several of the students at columbine)

I'm sorry but I don't see why anyone in any country, excluding military in a time of war, should be allowed to purchase and walk around in public with a semi-automatic uzi.

Maybe I'm from the wrong part of the country but I just don't see how that is someone's right.

more like a culture of FEAR, which I can agree to

i think loj68 meant the interview Moore had w/ Heston made him look like a dumb old fool

*shrug* Can't really remember that part, can't say I disagree ...

I was kind of surprised with the Marilyn Manson interview though. He seems smarter than I would have made him out to be

That is a very interesting commentary, however all documentaries take a certain point of view and bend the truth to fit it.

I do think Moore made Heston look like an ass, more so than he should have ... and there were things Heston could have done that he didn't and there were edits that Moore used to intensify them for the viewers. But, Heston said everything himself, it wasn't dubbed over...he said "From my cold dead hands", there is no doubting that.

From section six where the author tries to calculate the number of gun homicides:
More to the point, it's misleading since it includes self-defense and police: when we talk of a gun homicide problem we hardly have in mind a woman defending against a rapist, or a cop taking out an armed robber.
Maybe thats what he has in mind but a gun death is a gun death, whether it was in self defense, by accident, or cold blood. Women can carry pepper spray instead of guns, or a knife for that matter. Cops wouldn't have to gun down robbers if they didn't have guns.

I prolly pissed someone off with that statement but thats my opinion.

Watch the ties. Moore is nothing more then a con artist who prayes on individuals who do not know the facts. Moore bends the truth to fit his twisted, cloudy view of America and Americanism. Moore is nothing more then a pissed off Communist who uses his given abilities (ie, con artist) to spread his vile and sick points of view. This is the LAST movie that anyone (especially highschool students who don't think for themselves) should have to watch.

Remember, it is not the gun who kills a person, it is the person who pulls the trigger. I have never seen nor heard of a gun being convicted for murder.

Also, you, as a person have no reason to go and buy a 500hp Viper that will very easly brake the law, but you, as an American have the right to go out and spend your money to buy such a vehcile. Guns should be looked at the same way.
