Hi there,
I'm building a plug and play harness to run an AEM EMS on a 99 Protege. The ECU pin outs compared to the 02+ Protege5/AEM conversion shown here are practically identical minus things like no knock sensor, etc, and more importantly the cam sensor. The 99 model 1.6 engine's cam sensor is a hall (digital output) and the 1.8, or 02+ P5, are VR (analog output).
I'm not relishing trying to beat the cam/crank pickup timing into submission - I was very happy to find the writeup above complete with basemaps - and was wondering if anyone had information about the cam sensors for these cars? number of reluctors, if I can change out for the 1.8 sensor easily, etc.
Any help, harrassment, or other commentary is of course welcome. TIA.
