Hi
I finally got my CDA-9815 installed and I love all the cool features :)

Ok my question is about I personalize, I entered the time distance bettween me and the speakers for time correction on the website, burned on a CD and loaded on my headunit. the sound change but I don't know if it is for the best.

I'm just wondering if I did something wrong because some of the numbers I get from the site is 0.0 ms for the right rear speaker, and my understanding was that 0.0 stand for not speaker.

here are the numbers I entered on cm and the resutl I got

front left speaker: 94 cm

front right speaker: 129 cm

rear left speaker: 137 cm

rear right speaker: 142 cm

Website results:

front left speaker: 1.4 ms

front right speaker: 0.1 ms

rear left speaker: 0.4 ms

rear right speaker: 0.0 ms

can you guys tell me if is ok that the rear right speaker gave me the numbers 0.0 and because of that the sound after I upload the time correction file doesn't sound all that good?

thanks

Alex

I would time correct for the fronts only. The time corrections is made so that the singla of the speakers will hit your ears at the same time and as your rear right is the farthest away it will need to correction, its the other speakers that need to be slowed. The rears should be a filling speaker thus be barely audible as even being one. Right now the head unit is trying to make the stage in the center of the car!

You are right, I tried moving my head to the center of the car as I drive to see where I could get the right stereo and it sound way better on the center but I can't not drive like that :(

So you recomend to only use time correction for the two front speakers right?

Yep. Its worth a try atleast. Also true SQ setups have the center of the stage in the center of the dash not the left side so you may want to play with it a bit to get it where YOU like it.

I use time correction only on the front speakers and it sound better :) now I can feel getting the sound to my heand in a balance way :)

by the way since my rear speakers are better than the front ones, I tried fading off one step the front ones so I can have better base coming from my rear, doing this will over right the time correction I just did for the front speakers? and do you think is a good idea to do this?

fading won't affect the the time correction, it will just make the rear louder which in turn fools the ear into thinking the sound is coming from the back.

I would suggest delaying both rear speakers by a couple ms. It will give an echo/reverb effect similar to the back wall of a music hall. However, it will sound weird you have them turned up louder than the front.

If all you want is bass coming from the rear, you should adjust the crossover on your amp (if you are powering them with an amp) to cut out the high frequencies, or connect a passive crossover to them.

Make your life easier and put your best speakers in the front.
Thats where the sound needs to be not the back. As I mentioned the backs should be barely audible. Especially if you have a P5 and the rear speakers are down in the rear doors. Down there they will only totaly F- up the sound stage by pulling it back thus killing its depth and lowering it. Both bad things.

I wantted to put 4 kappas but they are to big for my front doors so I had to buy the lower infinity ones for the doors :(
