95blkprobe's 02 p5 build

Some late and little updates. I switched to mobil1 full synthetic 5w-30 and it seems like it builds oil pressure quicker when under load, yet my oil pressure is 2-3 psi lower (hot idle) than with conventional 5w-30. Im thinking its just from this hot ass weather. Also my piping for my custom downpipes came in:

I also developed a clunking noise in the front right of the car. Jacked up the car after work and found half of my front sway bar bushing sitting on my control arm. OOPS! anyways, while the car was in the air, I did this :

225/50/16 with 3mm spacers up front and 5mm in rear. Need to def roll the rear fenders though!

Very nice, that must make oil changes a breeze :)

I've always been jealous that my brother can change the oil+filter on his corolla without jacking up the car.

Switched to mobil1 full synthetic 5w-30 and it dropped my hot idle oil psi down to 14-15 psi. I heard something when the car was idling and I thought it was a little piston slap since its typical for wisecos. I did two pulls against a honda hatch and o could hear some knock so I limped back home and tore it apart. Bearing looks like it just starved for oil. I wasnt low on oil either. Pulled a few mains and they all looked good as well did the other rod bearings, just a little wear which looks like its from other bearing material. Im going to polish the crank with an emory cloth, clean everything out, roll in new rod bearings, switch to either 10w30 or maybe 15w40,and crank up the psi and let her eat. My welder will be making may downpipe on thurs, hopefully

I was running 5w-30 Mobil1, but I just switched to 10w-30 Mobil1...full synthetic obviously. Warm idle oil pressure, on a cool day is 10psi, and on a hot/warm day its still at 8psi...didnt really go up any. But I am running a oil cooled only turbo and I dont have an oil cooler, so I figure thats why.

well, some bad news: I polished the crank and rolled in new rod bearings, removed and cleaned all the oil lines, pan and all. put in 10w-30 conventional oil with a little seafoam and turned it over till i built oil pressure (with inj fuse out), then installed the inj fuse and let car run through the heat cycle. help oil pressure at about 26 at idle. drained the oil and spun on a new filter. the oil was pretty nasty for only running in the engine for about 10-15 mins and had a fuel smell in it. i refilled the car with oil and let the oil warm up completely then gave it a few revs and theres still a knock. it would only do it at little throttle and on decel so i was thinking a wrist pin or piston slap since wisecos are very particular about piston slap, revved it a few more times and im almost certain it has a rod knock again. i then slammed the hood, took off my gloves and threw them at the car and havent laid eyes on the car since.

I have been thinking about the gas smell and I did notice some black crumbled pieces in the pan when i removed the pan originally to replace the bearing. Im thinking it was a compression ring. If my theory is correct, it could be dumping fuel straight down the cylinder walls of that particular cylinder and washing out the bearing, and the first "knock" I was hearing was in fact piston slap then developed knock once fuel rushed down the walls and washed out the rod bearing. I am still on factory ecu so i know my car has to be running rich considering im lower compression than stock. i will be tearing down the motor bare and measuring everything and inspecting the motor to see what has gone wrong, i will then have it all rebalanced and i will reassemble after going through every nook and crannie in the block.
