my buddys rx7 he just bought for about 14k blew its engine, i felt bad giving him the estimate to fix it, we told him at least 10k to 13k , i htink he fainted or passed out or something after i talked to him. We tried to run it but it got flooded, so we put some of what mazda techs call GO GO juice in the engine( if u know rotoray ull know what that is), finally got it started , wouldnt idle, kept it reved up and watched 6 foot flames come out the exhaust at times. we thinkthe turbos started leaking oil and killed the engine, dont knowyet , he hasnt appoved it yet,

1 engine
1 twin turbo setup
1 wireing harness
Hundreds of vacume lines
20 parts that were taken off that could have caused it to blow.

air pump was missing?? dont know why..

think this car has gone to hell , but it looks so good . Orage with erebuni wide body kit.

hmm....sounds like the same symptoms as my 1st gen had.....it's not a shot apex seal? I know when I killed mine it was a b**** to start & ran like s*** (sputter sputter)....and unburned gas from the 2nd rotor could definitely cause the flames (ala 2F2F)

they were shoot ing out about 3 foot be hind the car and 6 foot high, i told him it is one way to burn your opponites.. the engine has 120k miles, i told him he was lucky to get that , they usuall on average crap out at around 70k

the 13k is for engine , turbo , wiringharness , vacuum hosses, air pump, new piping, basically he gets to keep the horn , lol, everyhting else is dry rooted

we are gonna change the turbos because they probobly caused the engine to blow by the turbos leaking oil

here's what you need to do if you are planning on spending 13k,, buy a reman motor and get it ported and put a single turbo kit on...

the heat under the hood dry rotted the harness , when u go to pushe a clip to take it off it just breaks apart.

we told him it would be cheaper to put a 350 under the hood , but he likes the rotary turbo to much, i dont blame him.

That is insane. A street ported rebuild will be 5 K. A single turbo kit around 3K. A Haltech that uses its own harness around 1.5 K. Fuel and cooling upgrades to handle the 400 min RWHP 1.5 K. So for 11K He would have a min. 400 RWHP single turbo upgrade and have zero vacuum lines.

I doubt very much that the turbos caused the motor to go. Has he done a compression check yet? The map sensor could have disconected or something small like that.

^^excactly what i was trying to tell this guy lol, or just buy a 3 rotor =) 13k for a stock port engine is the biggest rip off evAr(also was this installed or just motor costs)

ummmmmm...who is quoting these prices...you guys are psychos!!! got a factory rebuilt engine in the garage for 3k...set of turbos for under 1k...go to the rotary boards i'm sure somebody can point you to somewhere cheaper...

i have 3 13b rew motors here at the shop if your buddy needs one- chris@ spd racing

yeah its factory... we are nto bothering to put a real estimate together because we dont think he is gonna fix it , and that is how much u would be charged at mazda..

I don't know why he wouldn't fix it... We put a Mazda reman motor, 99 JDM Twins and a Power FC on my brother-in-laws R1 for ~$4500... Installed at the local Mazda Stealership no less.
