2003~2008 Mazda6s won't start, at a loss...Help!

Hi guys, new to the site. I have a problem with my 2004 Mazda6s SportWagon 3.0L V6 automatic transmission. No mods. just replaced CV joint and axle. Started car every day as it sat for a month until I could afford the part and the time to repair.

Needed to jumpstart it, must have left something on and I grounded out the system by bumping the loose cable ends together. Car turns over as if it has no compression and won't start. No blown fuses and relays look fine. What am I missing? Is it possible my key is no longer recognized?

I'm at a loss...Please help, thanks!

You may have drained the battery by doing this.

Car turns over as if it has no compression and won't start.
Are you getting spark? Pull a plug and watch it (leave it connected) while turning over the engine.

Please excuse any frustration that may seep through in my response. This is my first Mazda and it being the short lived 6s V6 SportWagon I've run into more than a few headaches just due to my unfamiliarity.

Many thanx for your response.. I've figured out by process of elimination. I'm not ungrateful for at least one person responded. But the obvious thing is a a dead battery even one below 11.5 will fire off with a jump start and this is a 21 yr old car that's seen lots of jumpstarts. Battery 8 mos old.

The problem as it turns out is the security system isn't recognizing the key and the little car with a key in it lights up while cranking the motor. I actually got this information from Gemini III after some technical language discrepancies got hashed out. Google seems to think we're supposed to adjust our language to AI rather than the other way around so It took a few rounds of me straightening my assistant out to adjust to the user and known shop language/technical jargon and sub-models.

Now, how do I fix it? The battery disconnect handshake thing doesn't do the job....
