My moms car just hit 60,000 miles and im going to be doing the schedualed maintenance at my school. I just have a couple questions, as all the stuff I know is for my P5

Its a (i think) 2005 Mazda3 Hatch 2.3L

I was wondering if you can tell me the

1. Spark Plug Gaps
2. Minimum Machining spec for the front and rear rotors. I will be resurfacing them.
3.Should I replace the Air Filter?
4. Am I forgetting anything else?

THANKS! (2thumbs)

1. Plug gap is 0.050" to 0.053"
2. Minimum rotor machining specs. front. 0.94", rear. 0.39"
3. Air filter should be changed.
4. Coolant should be replaced unless it has FL22 type coolant. Reservoir should be
labeled if FL22.

This data came from a 2008 shop manual but should be ok for 2005 models.

Thanks again for the help Clifton. Before I start a new post for this problem I was wondering if I might get lucky and have someone chime in or link me to another source.

Ever since my mom had the car, she noticed the radio sucked! It had pretty bad static and took it in to the stealership multiple times while under the warranty to have them check it out. First they blame it on the mountainous area we live in ( Souther Orange County)

Second round they try to play with some stuff... and didnt find anything wrong, but who knows how well they actually tried. Now its so bad that she gets pure static every station, no matter where she is located. I switched her antenna out with mine (P5) and nothing changed.

Anyone experience this, or have any clue where I can start?

Thanks Mz3 guys and gals!

I haven't experienced any radio problems with my 2 Mazdas. There is a Technical Service Bulletin for the 2008 Mazda 3 radio. It may also apply to 2005. You can check for TSB's here.

Click on TSB in the left column. If you find one for your mom's car print it out and take it to the dealer. They are sometines not willing to do any searching for something where they have to take work paid for by Mazda. Hope this helps.

Searched through those 120983345 links and all I found was for the Sirius Radio, which she does have

Did more research and she actually has the faulty Clarion Radio w/ Sirius satellite so I printed out all the papers and we will be travling down to the dealer to skin some heads. Thanks for that site!

At 60,000 you might wanna take a look at your tranny fluid. It would hurt to do a change. A simple drain and top up, don't flush it. Flushing can take shelack and any contaminants and force them into your main control. If you get anything in ther main contriol you will have shifting and fluid flow issue. I didn a fluid drain ran about 1000 miles and did a second drain. That will get most of the old fluid out of the system without having to do a major rebuild.
Also check your engine and trans mounts for wear.

If you are still having radio issues, make sure the dealership plugged the antenna back in. Seen it a lot of times. They work on it and forget to plug it back in...thus poor reception.

What you should do to the tranny is pull the pan, replace the filter and o-ring that is on the filter and put new fluid in it after you clean out the pan.
