4th Generation Prelude (Vtec)

06 MS6, 98 A4 1.8T Rebuilt
Anyone know the Spec's on those car's. The car has I/H/E from what i can tell, also it has a Vtec controller right on his Dash above the Gauges. BTW: smoke or mist came out of his exhaust, and it was goonnnnneeeee.....(uhm) (scratch)

They run High 14's Stock? This was a 94-96 Prelude (Vtec), not the Type-SH!!!!
I found a little-bit about them, but not much. This freakin (Prelude was a Beast though). We were both heading to the Military base. As soon as he saw me switching lane's, he was long gone with smoke or mist coming outta his exhaust. I say he sprayed or something. I have never seen a car take off this fast at all from speed's at 60-65mph. He at least had to reach over 110+mph in about 10sec. He was 8-10bus lengh's up ahead of me. If i find him again, i'll ask him what he has done to his ride. Also it is (CLEAN), no ricer status.(no)

Yep, some guys get really high 14's out of 4th gen ludes because they're a little lighter than the 5th gens. SH's are the same as a 5th gen base model, I assume you meant the jdm type-S? Anyway, get on a prelude board or honda-tech if you want to know more about the 4th gen ludes.

I just wanna know what do you think he's running? from what i saw, the car was clean with a few sticker's. AEM, Eibach, DC-sport's, Greddy. So i'm thinking he had a AEM CAI, DC-sports header, Greddy exhaust. Also he had a Vtec controller on his dash board. BTW: what's up with the Smoke or mist coming from the exhaust? is he spraying or what? I mean he made me feel like i was standing still!!!!:confused:

Even with just bolt ons probably still a high 14. The "mist" of black smoke was probably from the cam change (aka "VTEC") Race some more Hondas and you'll see what I'm talking about.
 
IIRC, the '94(?)-96 VTEC prelude was 190HP, and the '97+ was 200. not much difference. i don't think the older ones were much slower, if at all.

are there any super/turbo kits for those? would the JR supercharger fit the 4th gen? i think i remember that kit putting over 230 to the wheels.

Well this Prelude is not a normal prelude. This thing was a (Beast). It's definately faster than a Type-SH. BTW: I don't know too much about prelude's, so i don't know if they have any SC or F/I for them.

raced my friend's 00Si with I/E. he barely get's me by 1car lengh. (I don't see any smoke, mist coming from his exhaust. Raced a 96 EX with a b16swap I/H/E. (I didn't see any smoke or mist coming from his exhaust). I ran a 96 teg GS-R I/E, (I didn't see any smoke or mist come out of his exhaust). But this prelude that ran me," Destroyed me at speed's over 75-80mph". He took off like i was standing still. I say he was spraying, b/c he took off from 80+mph like nothing. He probably woulda roasted my friend's 96 civic hatch (D16 Turbo).(pissed)

There are a few 4th gens with the JRSC kit, but it takes alot of work to make it fit from what ive read

Preludes are granny slow. They run 17's.

 
The Prelude SH is slower on Drag than the base 5th Gen. Prelude. SH is equipped with a different suspension kit, that i would rather not get into, and weighs about 200 lbs. more. The 4th Gen Prelude has less horsepower than the 5th, but has more torque. I have a '93 Prelude VTEC with slight mods: CAI, Header, Port/Polish, 3 angle Valves, Computer Upgrade, and very little weight reduction. Trying to get the bugs worked out of it, and blowing black smoke when i engage the VTEC(not a good thing). I'm not sure on my track times yet, first run I broke an axle 1/2 shaft. Second run I broke a motor mount... I've seen Ludes run mid 14's with no more than CAI and computer upgrades.
 
Hello there fellow Luder. I believe you have some misinformation in your post. The SH does not weigh 200 pounds more than the base model.

Can you explain what type of "computer upgrade" did you do?
 
I hope he means a VTEC controller... they broaden the torque curve a lot...

But yeah, the SH has the same suspension setup, (different part numbers and such due to packaging constraints) it's just the ATTS differential that's different. All in all, it's slower than the base models because of the added weight. There are supercharger and turbo kits out, most of the 4th gen guys go turbo, better for max power. But yeah, a 4th gen with vtec controller and bolt ons will very happily run into mid 14s. 4th gen vtecs were the quickest of the bunch.

And dude, how'd you break a half shaft? MY buddy's JR Supercharged 5th gen puts down 265 to the wheels and he hasn't managed to break one yet... and he is FAR from nice to it, he races often, launches very hard, and his quaife differential transfers power extremely efficiently.
