I beat a Grank Cherokee Last night. Some guy who was trying to act all tuff with his girl, bumping his stock system. Well i really didn't wana run him but he ask me to. First he asked how much Horse power do i have, i said about 170, he said in a cocky why. i have 265 V8 wana run. I said sure, So he launched on the green, and i started normally, 1st we were about even 2nd i started pulling 3rd i was gone about 3 or 4 cars. Then the road turned into one lane and, i guess he was pist or sumthin cuz he was riding my ass, but i didn't really care, and drove normally.

i dont think you could have started "normally" and beat a v8 grand cherokee by 3-4 cars in only 3rd gear, they weigh like 3900 or something luwe..

if im not mistaken they run like a 15.8 1/4 mile, so by the guy "lauching" on green and the msp starting normally i doubt there would be a 3-4 car length lead in only 3rd gear

Couldn't Really discribe him From the start, I'll just say he had a quick start. And for me I didn't Launch, just took off faster then normally. And the Cherokee's tires did sounded like he tried to launch. But oh well. My be 3 to 4 not sure on my Calculations I just know he was pritty Far.

I AM TELLING YOU I DRIVE THAT JEEP LIKE ONCE A WEEK ITS IN MY DAMN DRIVEWAY! He Coulda won. Jeez Drop all the calling BS stuff, if someone is lying about a kill THEY know they are lying thats enough in and of it's self

My friend used to have one of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.9L V8s. It was 4WD & only got about 12mpg, but he had it up to about 280hp & 400tq! The one time I saw him run it at the track, he pulled a 15.0 & the crazy thing was that he was beating WRXs in the 60'.

Yep, Grand Cherokees are pretty quick. In the next few years, they are supposed to be redesigning the front end an dropping in a HEMI. Then the Jeep will really move.

Yea the Hemi is comming sometime in early 2004. My dad just went to school to lean about them. Hes a Jeep mechanic.

Also he has a 4.7 grand. Pretty quick, but I beat him with my 01 Eclipse lol. Only by about a car or so.

i doubt he woulda launched it in 4X4, i heard its not too smart to go fast in 4X4... like thousands of dollards not smart

You are correct. using 4x4 on dry pavement is never a good idea unless you have gobs and gobs of torque. In 4x4, the front and rear wheels are locked at the same speed, so the tires must scuff off any minor variance in speed. This is easy in rain, snow, mud, etc., but not on dry pavement. I usually don't take my truck much over 60mph in 4x4. If it is raining out, I will launch it in 4x4, then flip it off once I have significant traction.

AWD on the other hand can run on any type of pavement. It has a center differential to accomodate the speed differences between the front and rear axles.

g cherokee's unfortunately have one of the lowest resale values of any suv...not to mention that the one my in-laws used to own had the a/c repaired in 3 separate incidents, the transmission went, the rear diff went, the ceiling console fell down, the passenger side door panel came off, the headlights would sometimes flicker on and off while driving, and several other problems each happening one right after another...they have since sold it with 90k miles (1996) for $2k after putting about $10k of work in it after warranty (warranty it was in the dealer every other month for something) b/c they wanted to keep it for a while after each big repair bill came...problem was it just led them to another one in short time...they were jeep lovers but have finally succombed and bought a honda pilot and have over 30k miles on it with not a glitch or recall

this is on top of the wrangler my wife had when she was in high school that caught on fire one day in the garage after they drove it...got lucky and came back to the house b/c they forgot something to see the garage smoking like mad...they were jeep lovers but the junk that was sold has soured many a die hard fan of theirs

Damn I sold my 95 Grand cherokee with 90K miles on it for 9.5K You selling out to easy.

My roommate has a 4.7 Dakota manual 2WD pickup, and it's pulls hard. An auto 4.7 G-Cherokee will be a bit slower, but should still put up some fight.
