i've noticed several different grilles on different 3's. some are colored, some black honeycomb, some have chrome, some have the colors straight, some have the colors slanted, some have a lot of color bars, some just a few, etc... is there a decode table out there that shows the different grill options and what model/year each is associated with?

i think that last pic the top is stock just that lower awfulness is aftermarket
i've been trying to pay attention to it for the last few days. my hypothesis is:
colored grill = s model
black grill = i model
since all hatches are s models they all have the colored grill
the hatch's hood includes the grill, the sedan's doesn't. this is what allows the sedan's bars to be horizontal instead of sloped.
the many bar look vs 2 bar look in the colored grills i believe is a model year thing. something like 04-06 has the multi bar look, 07+ has the few bar look
then the black top strip vs chrome top strip on the i's probably has to do with trim - the more basic models getting black, the nicer models chrome
