2nd Row Door Light

Hey everyone,

This just happened out of the blue. My second row light doesn't come on when I open the door.

I checked the switch and made sure it was set to "door". I know it's not the bulb because it works in the on position. Maybe a fuse or a door switch. I find that hard to believe since it's a 2012.

Any advice appreciated.

Does it not go on with any of the four doors opening? Or can you isolate the problem to one particular door?

If it's just with one particular door chances are the door latch from that door is bad since the door ajar switch is built into it. Otherwise if it does it with all four doors chances are the dome lamp assembly is bad specifically the center door position of the dome lamp switch which is not sold separately from the dome lamp assembly.

2012 should still be covered by the warranty.
You would need to see if the front lights come on and test for the voltages. Could be bad contact in the light, or in the door switch.

Little electrical inconsistencies are a fact of life for Mazda5 owners. This is the 1st overhead lamp issue I've heard of, though. Use your warranty. That's what its there for.
