a few philly region autoXers are entering a pair of cars in the upcoming east coast Lemons races. one is my old Corolla FX-16; the other is an old Audi.

the first race will be in SC in late july; i won't be there b/c of the Romulus ProSolo that weekend. the next one (hopefully) will be in Connecticut in August.

the team name came from the story about Schuey catching a cab and driving it himself. we have a working light and a meter. and a (scantily-dressed, inflatable) passenger.

here's the ultra-rare 1987 Ferrari FX-16. only one of these were ever made:

LMAO that's AWESOME! That is one of the funnier news articles I've ever read (about Schumi zipping around in that cab haha)

Very nice! I love the concept.

I'm pretty fired up about the 24/Lemons. I'll be participating in the SC event with a retired CSP CRX. Should be lots of fun :D.

Jeez...you guys too? I'll be at CMP in the "Buzzed Racing is Fun Racing" '88 Mustang. I think my job is to drive Sunday morning while everyone else is recovering.

Edit: At least now I have a few cars to aim for.

Sweet. More passing fodder. See ya there, bud! :)

now i'm really bummed that i'm missing the SC race. there are only 30 teams signed up for CT...get in the game! we need people to pass. ;)

we've been autoXing both STS cars this season...fun stuff. lots of body lean, but good times and a lot of stick. the 'Rolla is especially fun, b/c it still revs reliably to ~8000rpm.

I'm not sure I would want to be on a mile long race track with 60 other cars driving a chassis that is that easy to spin out. You might be spending a lot of time facing in the wrong direction. What is fair market value on a used CRX these days? $1,000.

The car is quite stable. However, we're spending a fair amount of time fixing rust. All 4 corners, where the cage mounts, is completely rotted through. I personally wouldn't pay $100 for this car at the moment.

Lol...sounds like a typical CRX.

Good luck to all the lemons racers! I look forward to seeing you guys in South Cackalackastan. Look for me in the, uh, politically incorrect CRX. (I didn't choose the scheme, lol)

This weekend was more fun than one should be allowed to have. I'm dead tired, but keep re-living the thing out in my head. Being my first actual wheel-to-wheel race (aside from track days), I think I'm hooked even more into this sport.

Great job to Justin's team for pulling the car back together. You guys did an awsome job getting the car back out on course. Congrats.

Dmitrik, I wanted to swing by and say hi to you guys, but never got the chance. Most of my free time was tied up in the pits. EDIT: I just saw you couldn't make it. Sorry dude.

As for the Obamanation CRX, it'll be back under a new guise. Hopefully we'll get the braking and heating issues resolved. With a total of about 3.5 hours total pit time, it didn't help our placement.

Great job to all. I look forward to seeing you guys around the corner again.

Man....what a weekend. It was good seeing some of you out there. The taxi was fast, as was the Obamination CRX from the Atlanta crew. We had a rough Saturday blowing a head gasket in the first 2 hours. Spent 4 hours in the pits replacing it and we were good for the rest of the event. Needless to say that break put us well out of contention for any top spots. We did actually gain laps on the leaders on day 2, but we finished the race 169 laps down. At our average pace 169 laps was just under 4 hours of track time so all things else being the same we could have been right there if we hadn't broke. Oh well. It was still a blast. Here are some pictures from my camera...lots of good shots of the other cars in the event.

i'll be driving the Taxi at the CT race in a few weeks. glad to hear you guys had fun...you should make the trip north. it won't be quite as hot. can't wait!

edit: man, there were some huge piles of crap at that race.

We are building a 1986 BMW 325 ESE ya homes you read that right ;)

We already got chrome rims......next comes the chrome fender trim, and our names in olde english on the car ;)

All we need now are our team sombreros :)

Shoot dmitrik4, I didn't know you were going to be at the ProSolo. I would have tried to find you to introduce myself at least when I stopped by on Saturday.

So what are the rules to the Lemon race?

actually, didn't make that either. turns out we had a trip planned that weekend (to Ithaca, ironically) that knocked out both the Pro and Lemons. i couldn't get permission to spend Sat and Sunday racing. :(
