Ok so before i get flamed for not searching, I did and came up with nothing. Im wondering if a 235/40 can fit on a stock rim? Stock suspension and unrolled as well. A few people say yes, others say go with a 225. Any ideas? Answers?

The "too wide a tire for a stock rim" argument aside, many claim the 235/40-18 will fit on a stock suspension without major rubbing except when car carrying a rear load or over major bumps and than fairly minor...some claim no rubbing at all (the rears are the main culprit) probably since they never carry rear passengers. Using RX-8 rims with their 50 offset, a 235/40-18 is almost always rub free, again with a stock, nonlowered suspension, with non blown rear shocks.

It's what I plan to run on my RX8 rims next year.
That said, 235 is wide for a 7" rim and while it might fit, I don't see the added forward traction benefit over a narrower tire offsetting the likely trade off in steering response. I cold be wrong and if I were you, I would consult the guys at the shop where you plan to buy the tires. I personally don't see the benefit over a 215 or a 225 if you're running stock width rims.

I have this setup on my CB-MS3. 235-40-18 on RX8 wheels on stock suspension. No rubbing whatsoever and nice stance. I would not personally go with > 225 size on stock wheels.

My 2 cents,
Carlos
