22.5k with my sri

Hey guys, I'm going into mazda for my 22.5k checkup and I have my simota sri on right now. Should I take it off and put on the stock intake or do you even think mazda will be giving me s*** for pulling in with the sri on? It only takes like 15 mins to replace the intakes, so I don't mind, but I don't want to have to keep switching eveything if I don't have to.

it all depends on your dealer. Some service managers wont care, some will "put you in the system" as having aftermarket parts...its all about what you're willing to risk...

With my dealer, as long as the malfuction was not caused by the aftermarket intake, it will not void my warranty and it will be covered. don't know how your dealer works exactly, but it's worth a shot. if you want to be on the safe side, go ahead and swap them out.

take it off. I never go to the dealership with my intake on. 15 minutes is not worth your warranty. Everytime you get a cel they will blame it on the sri. There is only a small chance that they won't care, so I don't think the risk is worth it. What gets done to the car at 22.5k, I am getting close to that number.

Ok cool, yeah I'm sorta leaning towards switching them back anyways. The 22.5k is just an oil change and oil filter replacement. But I didn't go to mazda for my last oil change, and they realign and rotate my tires when I do, so I want them to do that this time. I am also getting them to look at my brakes cause they are squeeking a little bit.

Hey NOmz3, what do you mean by "Rear Seat Delete"? You just took them out??? What did oyu end up putting there? Any pics?

just took them out, i don't recommend it. it's incredibly loud inside considering the rear seats lie directly above the muffler and muffle the sound, without them it's just crazy loud. no pics taken and i didn't put anything there. was going to have some sheet metal layed over it, but i'm think i'll just throw the seats back in from time to time.

were they easy to take out? What were you going to put ontop of the sheet metal, lots of ICE? or were you just using it for more storage space or whatever?

nothing really, i was just going to leave it empty. not into ice or stero equipment. if i ever came to rebuilding the bottom end i'd mount a nitrous bottle back there but other than that the seats were a breeze to take out, the bottom half pops out no tools necessary, the top portion bolts out with like 4 bolts on either side.

Anyone have the install instructions for the SRI?? Friend installed mine so I didnt get hands on for the install...

hehe, well the instructions themselves that come with the box are in 4 steps:

1. Remove the stock intake box.

2. Install SIMOTA's products on the inlet manifold

3. Fasten Bracket

4. Install Completed.

Kinda lame, and if you don't really know anything about cars, it might take you like maybe an hour or so max to figure everything out.

It's fairly easy though. Just take out the air passage to the battery, unscrew the sinch-tie that holds the tubing to the engine, as well as unscrew the air sensor. Pull up on the intake box (it's just clipped in on the bottom) and take it out of the car. Set the sri's bracket in first (trust me if you have big hands like mine), pop the sri in there, fastening the tubing back onto the engine, insert the tubing and the air sensor, and you are golden. It sounds complicated on paper, but after you do it once, it takes you like 15 minutes to do so no worries.
