21st-Century Muscle Cars

Kinda of a toss up though I really like the Mustang, it is a taste retro compared to say the Impala or Thunderbird. Would have to actually sit in each one before determining which interior is better.

The GTO does sound wonderful, there was one driving by starbucks a few weeks ago.

But if I truely had to pick it would be the Mustang, though only when the Cobra comes out :)

I would chose the new GTO. I actually like the styling of the GTO better than the new Mustang. I am not sure about the new hood scoops, but it is a good looking car. A 400hp engine dosen't hurt either (wink) .

I wish critics would stop comparing the GTO to the look of the past. Not every car that carries an old nameplate has to go the retro look like the new Mustang. I personally really like the exterior of the GTO, and I don't think it's generic, "lozenge-like" or a bloated Cavalier. It's a nice looking car, dammit!

I think they should've stayed with the Monaro name (which is what it is for the rest of the world), instead of naming the car GTO. Then people wouldn't expect some lame retro look and actualy appreciate it for the great car it is.

In Australia the GTO is available. Which is a based on the Monaro but tuned by Holden Special Vehicles.

they are both good cars, but dollar for dollar i have to go with the mustang. you get a great package for less than $25K. i would never actually buy one though because everyone and their grandmother will have one by next summer.

my point is and always will be

LS1(2/6/7) > any 4.6L ford comes up with

I don't like mustangs at all....however I do like the new mustangs look A LOT. I love how they did the retro throw back, with a 21st century twist.

The gto? I love that car too....I love the clean lines of it.

I too feel the GTO gets a bad rap. 90's styling.. bloated Cavalier... blah blah blah! For many, having a classy/conservatively styled car capable of hangin with the best of the best is what it's all about. Hell, this approach hasn't hurt BMW!! However, that being said, when you start making the comparrison to a car with as bold a styling as the new Mustang, it's a tough matchup. Look at the aggressive stance of the new stang... the fender flares... the fastback look. It's mean lookin! In comparrison, the GTO seems somewhat girly... but ONLY in comparrsion. Whenever I see a GTO on the street I get a stiffy... but I must admit, it just can't hold up in the looks dept compared to the Stang.

On a sidenote, I like the new exhaust they gave it... but those hood scoops... I don't know, seems somewhat inappropriate. doesn't really fit the overall look of the car. it's like they just slapped it on to try and make it look more tough.

I think the GTO looks very Germanic(SP). Especially the interior where its like sitting in a BMW 3 series. My uncle has a GTO and he drives really nice and the power awesome even if its just an 04 GTO with 350hp. I would think the GTO with its full independent suspension and Bosch traction control would out handle the Stang with its stoneage live rear axle.

I'm getting so sick of the Retro styling that American companies are doing!

makes a BIG difference!! why they don't make em like this is beyond me.
It has also has AWD and a sunroof that are not available here.

They really need to get rid of those hood scoops, it just breaks up the clean look of the GTO.

I really really like the Mustang but like all mustangs they are still lacking in the HP! Why? If thy would just start the GT at around the Hp that the Chevy has they would out sale everyone. But I think I would go with the Ford just because I'm an old hotroder at hart, just can't afford the gas.
