215/50/16 Tires

I don't know if there was a thread posted on this all ready but does anyone know if a 215/50ZR 16 tire will fit on the factory 16x6 chrome wheels? And if so, will an offset be required to keep them from rubbing??!! Any assistance will be greatly appreciated?!! And does anyone one have any suggestions on good tires of this size?

Just want to get a tire with more of a footprint on the road without having to go to a 17-inch rim. Also, if i don't have to use an offset, then i think the car grip the road a little bit better too.

the 50 is how TALL the tire is going to be

If you're on stock now, they are , i think 195mm wide

Stepping up to the 215 will increase the footprint

You should be able to source some 205's (not sure if a 215 will fit on stock wheels)

205's already look a bit "chubby" on 16x6 wheels. 215s will be even more so. Should fit... (but may possibly rub) but you should have at least a 16x7 rim to make it look neat.

go 215/40 or 215/45. Dunlp Direzzas come in 45, and Hankook Ventus HRII in 40. I have the Hankooks and love the extra rubber!

Nope, they fit fine just mounted on the rim. I was told that some shops might make a fuss about mounting them because it takes a lot of pressure to get them to seat, so I went to a guy I know. However, I did have to get one of the tires plugged and just went to a chain tire store and they didn't make a big deal either.

A great upgrade in handling for sure!

im happy with 205/50

wide enough to feel good through turns, with enough sidewall so that i still have a relatively comfortable ride.

Its all about preference. my car is a dailydriver, and i prefer a more balanced car between comfort and performance.
