2018 CX-5 AirPlay Retrofit Before Software Update

Hello,

I bought an AA/Carplay retrofit for my wife's 2018 CX-5. I installed it already, before checking her software version. I thought her software was up to date because she said there was a recall out and she took it to the dealer and they said they updated it. I should have verified the version, but it's at 59.00.504 NA N.

I know people have said in the past you have to update to 70+ before doing the retrofit so what is my course of action here? How do I get this to work correctly? Is it still unsafe to try to update to the newest version after the fact? Do I need to tear it back apart and plug in the old green cables and the old hub and update the software first, then re-plug in the new cables with the new hub?

I don't think I have seen anyone update after the fact therefore I would highly suggest you unplug the new kit before the update to avoid the possibility of bricking.

I've seen people mention that the unit would be bricked instantly with the new hub being installed before the software update, so I wasn't sure. Everything is running exactly like it was with the previous hub with no issues, there just isn't any option for Android Auto. Was hoping to be able to avoid undoing everything and redoing it again.

This.Above.

Plus Its 10min more to connect it. (removing trim, removing the cmu screen) . Do the upgrade (make sure you battery is fully charged) and then 5 to disconnect and put trim back.
