2017 CX-5 vs 2024?

Don't let your wife find out that her talking is just noise to you!

:D
Those headphones allow for conversation as they basically work on droning, lower frequency sounds. So they are perfect for tire/road noise, but you can still hear things like the radio.

You can always just nod.

You can add the Buick Envision to your list of potential new quiet vehicles, kind of an American Lexus.

I know what you mean...Not everyone is like you and me! My previous ride was a 2017.5 Murano SV shod with OE Continental Cross Contact LX Sport 235/65/18 tires. It was very quiet and absorbed potholes and bumps easily. On the other hand, my 2012 RAV4 Sport V6 was noisy and harsh; I changed the tires (OE 235/55/18 Toyo A20) with Bridgestone Alenza HL422 which helped a bit and I soundproofed it. I'm too old to do that kind of thing anymore. It took me a while to get used to the CX-5 but I don't drive much anymore. Good luck with your quest for a comfortable ride.
We just bought a '24 S Select. The OE tires are awfully noisy ( and probably more rough on the ride). We will use them until it's time to replace them. I've got the Conty Cross Contact LX tires on my CRV and they made a HUGE IMPROVEMENT over the junk OE tires it came with. The are quiet, grippy, and wearing slower. Pretty sure we will go with these for the next tires on the CX-5.

Compared to my CRV (Gen 5), I'd say that the CX-5 is a little bit choppier in ride quality but that's not meant to be a complaint. We are impressed with the build quality and happy to have a naturally aspirated engine combined with an automatic trans, both of which are becoming harder and harder to find. We will probably replace the CRV with a second CX-5.

Personally I’d stick with the 17 if you’re happy with it. I hate car payments! Our RAV4 was a planned expense but my ‘13 CX-5 getting totaled was unexpected. I love my ‘23 Turbo: it’s so peppy, sporty, and quiet. But my barebones ‘13 Sport was paid off and reliable : (

As I get older I’m accepting more and more the idea of appreciating what I already own. Our RAV4 Hybrid has two and a half years and the CX-5 4 years of payments left, can’t wait to own them both outright and drive them until the wheels fall off.
