2017 CX-5: Initial Review

I'm somehow stopping you from enjoying your car? LOL, go out and enjoy your car bro, don't let me stop you. I'm just stating facts, not complaints. It's not that serious.

Nah, that's not really what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that it seems like you're trolling this forum for the sake of trolling. What happened, did the Mazda 3 guys kick you out?

Honda does offer HUD, in addition to a Panoramic sunroof in certain markets for the 2017 CRV. Besides, I thought we were over this 'feature vs feature' stuff weeks ago. But since you were wrong about Honda not offering a HUD in the CRV, ill re-raise you with Apple CarPlay.(outie)

How many of us have an iPhone and DGAF about CarPlay? Enjoy your 3.

What's worse is when people start throwing the word 'trolling' around when they see an opinion they don't like.

Enjoy your new CX-5!

Maybe I'm just dumb, but what's the big advantage/need for front and rear parking sensors? The rear camera gives me enough of a visual aide when I'm backing up, and quite frankly I can see obstacles in front of me just fine.

The reversing camera makes the rear parking sensors pretty much obsolete.

The fronts are very helpful for parallel parking as it's not clear precisely where the front of the car is.

I don't find then unnecessary. What happens if you are distracted and not paying attention to the screen? Sensors will still advise you that something is there :)

Yeah, I prefer the backup beep-beeps on my Escape to the backup camera on my husband's Tacoma. It's what I'm used to, and plus, you're supposed to be LOOKING behind you when you back up...

Indeed. I look at the camera, listen to the beeps and look at the back (obviously I can't look at the camera and back at the same time!)

Hey I'm not arguing with either of you, I'm just trying to make myself feel better given we don't have them here!

Can anyone confirm if there is a power outlet in the front now on the 2017 CX-5? By front, I mean right under the dash and in front of the transmission stick. In the 2016, the power outlet was inside the center console armrest/storage area.

Yes, 12V in front cubby.
Also, 12V and 2 USB in center console.
Also, 2 USB in rear seat console.

Didn't think you were. I certainly wasn't! :) Sorry if I caused you angst

It should be noted that the usb ports in the centre console are not the same output as in the rear centre armrest. Hence phone charging apparently is painfully slow.

No, none at all!

Poorly worded on my part. Was attempting to convey my denial/envy.

I'll know for sure when I pick mine up tomorrow, but I could have sworn I saw 2.1 on the front USB ports when I test drove a couple weeks ago.

I thought so too until I drove the in-laws Nissan Dualis/Qashqai (smaller Rogue) which didn't have parking sensors at all even on the top model despite having 360 camera. The screen and glare on that was so bad I couldn't see it backing out and hit another car. Never thought parking sensors would be so useful until then. It would have saved me over $1000 that time.

Some people like them, others don't.

Each to their own :)
