2017 CX-5 GT Not downshifting upon acceleration randomly

I have a 2017 CX5 GT that was purchased this summer. I have 26k miles on it. There is one stretch of road in which I notice that my vehicle won't downshift (tach is over 5,000) when I am accelerating. It is a right hand turn where I am coming into it from a 40mph zone so taking the turn at 15mph approximately. The road that I turn on is 55mph so I kick it up to get up to speed but that tach is showing that my transmission isn't downshifting for me.
My only assumption is that my transmission is having this issue if I don't have it down to a lower gear when making the turn. If I purposely go slower into the turn and make sure that the transmission is lower (1st or 2nd gear...not sure) then it will shift properly. If I take the corner faster then I encounter this issue.

Is it a known issue? I am still under warranty so I can easily bring it in but it is one of those things that as a female I tend not to be listened to at dealerships and I obviously run the risk of not being able to replicate the issue in front of them.

Be certain you are feeling the transmission kickdown switch CLICK in the gas pedal when fully depressed.

You can request a service tech to ride along with you while you attempt to recreate the issue. Or you can record the behavior on a cellphone (ask a friend or family member to record while you drive and explain the issue).

How hard are you pressing on the accelerator when leaving the turn? Have you experimented with more or less throttle, faster pressing on the pedal? It sounds like you're not stomping on it when leaving the turn. Does it not downshift even when you do stomp on it?

These are questions you'll need to have answers for if you go to the dealer for help. Something like this will be hard for them to diagnose, unless it's really extreme.

From your description it sounds like it just wants more throttle. I often find specific situations where the tranny is NOT doing what I would like with a certain amount of throttle. It's a great transmission, but it's not always in the right gear.

You may want to experiment with sport mode even if you don't want to drive with it.

Sounds normal to me just from your short description.

I wasn't fully depressing the pedal but I have don't that before and have experienced the kick down. I think I will just experiment more to see if there is truly an issue.

I usually isn't driving it any harder than on every other road but I will experiment more with more or less throttle as well as the sport mode. I will also experiment with stomping on it for the kickdown and see if that makes a difference. My husband drove my car last night and experienced the same issue at the same turn and he usually has a lead foot compared to me so my guess is that it is happening when given more throttle without fully depressing the pedal for the kickdown.

I also have a '17 GT CX5.
There is a highway entrance where I go from overpass down to a ramp onto highway merge lane, on which I need accelerate to merge in.
I often find the transmission stays at high rpms for much longer than it needs to. Yes, it could actually get higher than 5000 rpm.
When I drive my '16 Mazda6, no such issue.
This could be related to the transmission logics Mazda installed on the '17 CX5.
It is more responsive than my Mazda6 GT (which tends to more layback for MPG purpose).
Sports mode was not used.
Same 2.5L engine, BTW.
