2016 CX-5 hatch rattle; nut size needed

:

My 2016 CX-5 sport has been making a rattling sound in the rear. As it turns out when you lift the hatch, the right nut is missing. I guess this nut holds the spoiler. On the left side it was loose and I tightened it. What is the part # or type of nut that I can use?

It will be a metric nut. If you have calipers (or even a ruler) measure the diameter of the bolt (or inside diameter of the other side nut). Chances are it's 5mm, if so, you'll need an M5 nut.

Part # 90040-0663, a flange nut, size not given in parts diagram. The original nut may have fallen down inside the hatch, maybe try snaking a magnet in there to see you can retrieve it.

Don’t forget to buy some loctite when you go to the hardware store! I did what N7 recommended years back on my ‘13. Sorry I don’t recall the size.

Time for me to remove the liftgate's trim and to go through the various fasteners to ensure they're all snug, an to double-check the double-sided tape here and there. Have a bit of movement, back there, that's likely this sort of "failure" brewing.

Getting ahead of the maintenance curve, IOW. A good little springtime project. After I get to re-doing the water seals and checking the window regulator/components in the driver's side door. Like as not, that'll require some new parts.

What issues are you experiencing with the drivers door window. I've changed a few of these cable type regulators on a previous vehicle and know they don't last forever.

Can't seem to find the part # on a search. Would you be able to post the link to that part? I found that home depot has the following M6 x 1.0 nuts with nylon but they don't have the flange. Wondering if I could use these?

Wouldn’t need any Loctite if M6 is the right size. Double check the spare nut you have from the other side of the spoiler on the m6 post in Home Depot. If it fits, you’re golden. Those lock nuts would work fine
