I have a 2015 CX5. The infotainment center definately has some issues.

Is there an update for the 2015 version of the car? How can I check my current version?

Seems like people are complaining about the 2016 infotainment as well.

Geez Mazda - fix or re-design your infotainment system. All around it's a great car!

Is there a way to verify which Bluetooth module I have?

I called my dealer about this issue and he said "oh ya- ya - just bring it in. We can look at it for you."

I said, 'Do you want the Service Bulletin Info?"

Dealer : "Uh we don't need it. Did you get a letter? "

Me: "No Letter from Mazda"

Dealer "Ya give us the service bulletin - what the heck"

So I made the appointment.

It was suppose to be for today and I decided to call before I dropped it off and ask two questions 1 ) is the part (BT module) on hand and 2 ) will this be a warranty repair.

Dealer : "Aww should be. It's just a software update."

Me : "No it's actually a physical BT module update"

So as we can asusme, I have concerns that I'll bring this in and they will either say a) they did a SW update and then I find out the issues remain or b) we didn't see anything wrong. Your BT is working fine

The procedure to view the BT firmware version is buried somewhere in the original thread, but this is why it is not simply a software update.
The original module is not capable of being updated to version 7.00!

The version 7 update can only be applied to a updated (re-worked) BT module, that is available to your dealer w/ exchange! If I recall, the updated Version 7 module is already flashed with what you need.

YOUR DEALER CANNOT SIMPLY FLASH AN OLDER MODULE WITH THE NEEDED FIRMWARE!! If he wants to know why...he should should call Mazda...that is his job...not yours! If I re-call, the older BT module can only go as high as Ver 6.45!

When I had it done, it was a warranty job, and the TSB was specific in how dealers were to obtain the part! (It was not on-hand then)

Any update? I have an appointment to go in this week. Oddly enough, I had a similar conversation with the service representative. She said it's just a software update, but the service bulletin says otherwise.

All, my 2016 CX-5 is about 5 days old. Technically it ought to have the latest firmware, maps, etc. Not the case. After developing a rapport with the sales guy he told me these come into the port and from there goes to the dealers. Some get flashed at port, some not. Depends on the demand. Bottom-line I used this forum to update the firmware and the maps.

Now - about the BT module. Even though was able to convince the service guy that its a hardware piece and not a software update, he wanted to confirm first that what I have requires replacement! I know somewhere here or some other forum there's a way in which the Infotainment system displays the current BT version but can't seem to find it. It's something to do with the radio, then seek and then entering 38. The issue is I don't seem to find "seek" as a button in the display. If the version displays 7.00 then the vehicle has the latest hardware, anything else means it needs to change.

Anyone has any details regarding the how-to part?

You have a 2016...totally different infotainment from '13-'15.... BT Module info below does not apply
