Well this is our first defect with the 2015 CX-5...

And would you believe that it is the infotainment system??? (braindead

The music works, volume knob works, voice works, side buttons are illuminated and working, however the touchscreen display is black and unlit as if it was powered off. It also remains black and unlit while putting transmission in reverse also. So it appears that the display has died. Tried tapping, knocking all around display bezel for a bad connection but no change. Making warranty appointment, but I have not heard of any other display failures on our forum here yet.

I suspect you are right and the display is dead, but did you try using voice commands to turn the screen on?

Brilliant idea... (which is exactly why I love it here.) I will try that when car returns this evening and report back...

In dark, if you flash a flashlight on the screen, you can see a faint image? If yes, then the backlight is out. This is good to diagnose TVs as well.

Any luck getting that display back on?

Voice commands to turn the display on and off were acknowledged by the headunit, however the display still did not work.

And to make things more interesting, today upon first drive, the headunit worked flawlessly. Car was parked for an hour, and then upon driving again, the display is out... So it appears to be intermittent...(braindead Which means it will work flawless at the dealer when I bring it in for service. LOL (rolleyes)

Ah, that sucks. That's what warranty is for so at least you won't be out of pocket!

yes... It is just bad timing and it means 5 hours of driving to and from the dealer and a tank of gas LOL... I hope I can convince my great dealer to order the parts prior to my visit so I do not have to revisit.

another interesting thing to note...Both times when the display DID work, the iPOD failed to connect. (scratch)

Which leads me to believe it is not just a display issue.
