2013 Cx-9 V-Leds V3 Triton LED brake light bulbs

2013 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring Tech Package White

I was pretty disappointed that Mazda removed LED taillights on the 2013 CX-9 and replaced them with boring incandescent bulbs. Luckily for me, my previous vehicle (2008 Subaru Legacy) shares the same bulb as my CX-9. I purchased these bulbs off of V-Leds website (very pricey) and transferred the bulbs over. For those wondering why would someone replace incandescent bulbs with LEDs, well for me, I love the instant on/off look that LEDs provide. Anyhow here a quick video with how they look and I took this video to show how bright the bulbs are in the worst lighting conditions possible, with the sun directly shining brightly on my Mazda's rear end. I'll post another video of how bright they are in darker conditions. Hope you enjoy.

Hmm, yeah, please post a night video. I did think about replacing my brake lights when I do my reverse lights, but those bulbs can get pricey the higher the wattage.

They don't look bright in the original video because that wasn't the whole point. I was showing that they are as bright as OEM or even brighter than OEM in horrible lighting conditions. ANY LED bulb that most have bought, either from superbrightleds, autolumination or ebay are all dull and a waste of money. Most demonstrations of LED bulbs are recorded either indoors or during the nighttime. These LEDs right here are expensive but ARE the REAL DEAL. Here's the link.

They certainly do look nice. But wow, you definitely have to pay for it. Thanks for the video sample!

Silly question time. I too am impressed with the Triton LEDS. For the rear lights, since the lenses are red, would you get more performance using the 5K white LED other then the Red one? Just wondering.. I like the technology!!

I have no idea. I had the reds pair since I had my Subaru so I have never tried using the 5k ones. It would be too expensive to test other colors out!

Just wait until I put the V3 Triton Amber turn signals on the car, that will be a beauty. Those also came from my Subaru. Just need to fix the hyper flashing.

I, too, have swapped tail light bulbs and came across this information about red vs white leds:

http://www.superbrightleds.com/carbulb_notes.php

The two applications I had were a clear lens for brake and turn signal bulb while the other was a stock red brake light lens. It goes against your gut feeling but you need a red led behind a red lens.

I did purchase my bulbs from superbright.

That makes sense now that you read about it - using a red LED for a Red lens. Im going with the Triton LEDs, so we'll see how it works out...

Yes you want the same color as the lens. Glad to see someone who's willing the pay for proper lighting. V3 Tritons are the only PnP LED bulbs I recommend. They are the only ones that give proper function under any conditions.

Metsfan, the 2013 tail light housing that mounts on the quarter panel doesn't have the led light board inside? Just wanted to know if this is true.

Well guess what it is probably a lot cheaper to replace that tail light housing than it is the one with the led board. I had my drivers side crack on me and every time it rained it accumulated water and the little bulb on the corner would burn out. I was fortunate that someone on ebay got a hold of some oem overstock. I paid 215 delivered. The oem's usually go for about 450 and up, while the aftermarkets are around 350 to 375 each.

any other members on here have purchased the Tritons yet? I would love to hear other success stories!
