Nice, but IMO I think it is a little bit too much of briiliant black :D..

This is just the beginning. I have a new front bumper coming in any day. At the moment it's getting painted to match the Mazda black. But I'm gonna paint some nice red accents on the car, front bumper, side skits, spoiler when I get it installed. It's gonna look different.

I know I need to lower it. I'm waiting for some one else to first to see which springs I get. There's a lot I want to do to this car. All in time.

IMO, you can't go wrong with H&Rs. Corksport runs them on their Mazda 2 project and seems to like them. They also give you a lower stance than Eibach and B&G.

I've got the H&R's on mine... they're pretty fantastic. I got about 2" of drop. They advertise 1.5-1.7

So do you have the springs on your Mazda 2. I've been real iffy about buying some. I talked to a guy at tire barn and he told me that it makes a big change lowering a car and that it makes it ride horribly. But he recommended that if I do lower it. Get a kit and exchange everything, springs, struts, etc.

Yeah the ride is going to be a little stiffer and yes you will need to replace your struts sooner but you can lower your car on the stock ones. The ride isnt going to be as smooth as it is now but it should be tolerable. As long as you get a reputable brand (H&R, Eibach, Etc.) you should be fine

So...honest question...I really am seeking enlightenment. It would appear that there are significant disadvantages to this modification...what is the payoff you folks pursuing this mod are seeking?

Well if you get larger wheels (rims) like I did from 15s to 17s then lowering it will make your car hug those tires better and it looks a lot nicer. If you do it right and dobt go cheap and get a kit it can make your car look nicer without giving up comfortability and handling.

Understood...thanks for the explanation. BTW...I am from that "other college town" down south.

And it improves your handling and mazda seems to always give their cars a s*** ton of wheel gap from the factory (look at a new miata) and to me it looks horrible and most other people would agree and say it looks really bad, especially when you put on aftermarket wheels on your car its just more noticeable. and if you get a tire with a smaller sidewall its really noticeable.

Low Profiles do show off more of the wheel gap. Heres some cleaner pictures of my car after a good wash and wax.

Looks pretty sharp. I think it needs one more splash of red somewhere around the nose...........maybe the plastic license plate holder. Or maybe a little red trim following the outline of the headlights just on the front though. The red nose stands out a little too much all by itself I think. Reminds me of Rudolph. But still it looks pretty sharp as is.
