So I was wondering what would be the beat route here. I want to get my
engine tuned. But should I get my begin tuned, a performance chip or can I get a module to allow me to select different profiles? I was a way so I don't have to have my laptop set up in my car. I want to be able to switch between sport, gas efficient, and etc. Is this possible at all? Please tell me yes

I personally don't know of any tuning options for the US spec Mazda 2. Now other countries might be a different story. I wouldn't buy in to the whole "chip" crap they sell either. In almost all applications, a full stand alone would be your best option. However, it's NOT cheap. Expect to cough up some serious cash for the unit and wiring itself, as well as paying for all the test n tune sessions. I'm not sure if anybody has even tried it to tell you the truth.

There are also some "piggy-back" units that modify signals and incorporate the stock ECU. Cheaper than a standalone ECU, won't do as much and may constantly toss CEL's, they still work.

AEM came out with a piggy-back unit called the FIC (IIRC, Fuel Ignition Control) which may be a step ahead of the competition and is apparently less likely to 'toss a code'. Haven't heard of one being put on a M2, but it might be worth looking at to use with minor mods.

Both chips increase the Power and Torque. One of the 2 chips is for eco driving. Only after pressing the accelerator 75% the full power kick your ass (thumb)

The text from SKN (better english i think ^^): The procedure for the customer is very simple. You simply choose the tuning mode with the position of your gas pedal. In the partial load range, this means until 75% throttle position, you drive with the fuel-saving CO tuning. You can therefore save with the patented CO tuning software money and protect the environment. In the full load range (100% throttle position / Kick Down) you receive the extra gains of HP and torque with the optimized SKN Power Tuning. That makes overtaking a pleasure and improves acceleration and pulling power.

I doesnt have any infos about the shop ...

Okay so the eco one, saves gas mileage until the throttle is pressed 75% then all is unleashed?
The other one though just unleashes the power all the time? gas mileage stay the same or get worse?

But, will it fit and/or work in an American ECU?

Will it make annual emissions testing a PITA? Every state is a bit different in how they test. NY basically just checks for thrown codes but the computer expects to see certain things when plugged in. Some states stick a emissions 'sniffer' up the tail pipe on a chassis dyno.

I think if you google translate it, you can read it. It lookis like to me that the eco one will defiantly be okay. I don’t know how much emissions are actually going to be coming out of the 2 with any mods.

In some states, like NY, they don't actually check emissions but plug directly into the ECU looking for codes. Not sure what a modded ECU would tell them. If they were expecting a Japanese accent and got a German one?????????

One of the forum members was using a AEM FI/C to do tuning for his turbo setup on the Mazda 2. If you can tune the 2 with it properly you should be able to get the same results.

Something like the FI/C will allow you to compensate for any other changes you make since it is adjustable. You start with the stock tune and work from there. A "chip" is a one-time shot in the dark and somebody's best guess who is 1,000 miles away.

Have you checked with forum member jmac36? Sounded like he was working on some pretty cool stuff for the 2, including ecu reflash. I'd love to hear some feedback from someone who has his product.

So about the piggy back device. how do I learn how to edit my stuff. Or where would I find someone who does? Would the Mazda 3 5 ddor spec work the same you think…. maybe lol
