2011 Ford Edge

There is not many chooses on the market in the US.

Audi A4 Avant
Audi A6 Avant
BMW 3 Touring
BMW 5 Touring
Cadillac CTS
Volvo V50
Volvo V70
VW Jetta Sportwagen

What else is there? Subaru killed the Legacy wagon and Merc killed both the C class and E class wagons. No more Mazda6 either.

Passat, Outback, Venza, Crosstour... All depends on what you want to consider a wagon. If I were labeling things, this list would be huge. Everything you were calling a CUV before? Wagons.

The Passat yes but the others are CUVs to me. Acura has a TSX sportwagon coming out.

You're on crack. You've been listening to too many marketing people if you think any of the things I specifically listed are not wagons. An Outback is a Legacy w/ more booty. Likewise the Venza/Camry (more or less) and the Crosstour/Accord.

As soon as somebody can tell me what the difference is between a CUV and a wagon, I'll stop thinking of a RAV4 as a wagon.

i usually think of a wagon as having a car body. even though a legacy outback won SUV of the year, i still think of it as just a raised wagon.

The Venza is a CUV like the Edge though. Typically, I look at wagons as cars with the liftgate added in. CUVs have more distinguishing sheetmetal than a wagon will.

A crossover is a vehicle built on a car platform and borrowing features of a traditional Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).

In contrast to traditional SUV's, which employ body on frame, crossovers employ a car's unibody construction. The crossover combines, in highly variable degree, design features from an SUV such as tall interior packaging, high H-point seating, high ground-clearance, or all-wheel-drive capability with design features from an automobile such as independent rear suspension, car-like handling and fuel economy.

Crossovers are typically designed for only light off-road capability, if any at all.

So high roof and seating position is the difference? Sorry kids, but that's a wagon.

I'm sure it does. My parents have a cx9 and while it's not quite as big as that (same platform, though, right?), I'd rather have a lower ride height and less weight, or sliding doors and a larger cabin.

Ride height i can understand...

Less Weight...
Edge = 4078lbs
BMW 535I Sports Wagon= 4101lbs

Chose the 5 series wagon to appropriate the size, the 3 would be a bit on the small side...Ergo the weight savings isnt that great

Sliding doors = you want a minivan not a wagon

Larger Cabin, how exactly would a station wagon provide more interior room than a CUV?!? CUVs allow for a higher roofline and wider track which would inevitably mean larger cabin :)

I understand you prefer wagons and minivans, and to each their own :)

Remember, i loved my P5, love my Golf, and would absolutely love an audi allroad :)
