ok so my 2010 mazdaspeed3 has 1200 miles on it and i decided it to race her with a 09 civic si which i blew a few times like 5 car lengths so i turned off dsc it was kinda cravlish road but not bad so it slipped and redlined alittle then hurt a loud pop sounded like from my motor so i slowed her down but no check engine light came on or anything so i was thinking i used to own a 04 si honda with a short ram intake which made similar popping noise could of been him or me and also everything seems fine with the car runs the same nothing diff just want to know about that loud pop??

Well, you have 58,800 left on powertrain... do it again and see if it pops :)

poppings never really concern me... it's the tickings that you have to watch out for.

If it was your car, I can only think of a few things that cause popping... you blew out the cats (engine light would come on over the next few days), you popped a piston ring (engine light would come on immediately and prolly shut the car off). It could also be the DSC? I'm not to savvy on DSC, I'll have to do some research on it.

If the car's still running with no lights, I wouldn't worry about it. Great thing about warranties.

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is an advanced active safety technology that improves the integrity of a vehicle's handling performance, by detecting and preventing skids and slides, helping the driver maintain control of the vehicle.

This technology is applied through a computerized system which compares the driver's intended direction (by measuring steering angle) to the vehicle's actual direction (by measuring lateral acceleration, vehicle rotation (yaw) and individual wheel speeds). If the vehicle is not going where the driver is steering, the DSC system then brakes individual front or rear wheels and/or reduces excess engine power as needed to help correct either understeer (plowing) or oversteer (fishtailing).

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) simplifies steering for the driver by using the vehicle's braking (ABS) system as a tool for "steering" the vehicle back on track. Braking is automatically applied to individual wheels, such as the inner rear wheel to counter understeer, or the outer front wheel to counter oversteer. Dynamic Stability Control systems also intervene to regain handling control by reducing engine power or accelerating the driven wheels. DSC may also incorporate traction control (TCS), which senses drive-wheel slip under acceleration and individually brakes the slipping wheel or wheels and/or reduces excess engine power until control is regained.

Despite continued advances in the performance of active safety systems, DSC cannot override a car's physical limits or increase traction. If a driver pushes the vehicle's traction beyond its limits, DSC cannot prevent a crash. It is a tool to help the driver maintain control using available traction.

I can't seem to find if turning off the DSC also turns off the DTC. But, looking into this, it seems that racing in a straight line would not effect the DSC what-so-ever; meaning there would be no need to turn it off in a straight race.

*sorry for the double post

maybe back fire, how did u get in the red line the car wont let u do that, my rpms drop before i hit the red line

actually the throttle plate closes when dsc is on if it senses wheel spin so you would want to turn it off regardless if your trying to go as fast as you can.

No true at all. for dragin you def want DSC off. to keep your rpm high, regardless of wheel spin. you need to control that your self.

IMO

How did this make it to page 2 without anyone talking about his AMAZING (sarcasm) punctuation. I don't even know what he said, or what he was asking.
