200hp naturally aspirated. Is it possible?

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried to see if the crank from a f2 2.2 liter turbo will fit in this block it is one of my future plans since I want to try to fit a fs with a f2 crank in a 1stgen probe, but I am far from that now. Just wondering. Hope fully I will be able to add more soon since I am about to start my second job on friday and will finally be able to spend more money on my protege. I have jdm cams so far and intake with a greddy e-manage on the shelf. We will see soon what will worrk for NA as it seems more people are trying to do it now. Also I amtrying to get 15o to the wheel na first then I am going blown which is why I went with the jdm cams not to agressive but changed the top end alot. Also I reall want cam gears to adjust the powerband. We will see soon.

I'm not looking at using the 2.3 head on the 2.0 motor....I am looking into the 2.3 block with the 2.0L head.

No the 2.3L is not a duratec motor. It is an entirely mazda motor. Iknow that the oiling system is different, oil pan different, motor mounts different (may only be since it's in a different chasis. If only I had a chasis to try it in......hmm, time for me to call LAMP3 to see if I can borrow his MP3 frame.

Turbo kits are nice.....if you want to be like everyone else = )

I'm going to buy a "thomas knight turbo" for the absolute best power in the WoRLD!!

Are you sure because I was told by many techs that it was a ford motor. Also if not could you direct me to wheir you got this info as the only reason I wont consider bying a mazda 3 hatch, (which I love) is because of a ford motor.

The 2.3L is a mazda motor. the 3.0 in the 6 is a duratec block and mazda head IIRC

I dont just trust the board, when techs have told me it is a ford engine and people are just telling me it is a mazda engine. I want facts not statments. But I will just leave it alone. I do not want to ruin a thread on this.

I worked for both Mazda and Ford. I've also worked on both engines. There are SO many differences between the two it's not even funny. Look at the oil filter/location.....on the focus it's on the passenger side of the engine, backside of the motor, about halfway up, over the axle. On the M3/M6 it's a cartridge type filter built into the block. Look at the heads....the 2.3L focus motor feeds (intake) from the back of the motor. On the mazda motor the intake is on the front side while the exhaust is on the back.

Also, something that should be understood about the Ford/mazda partnership is that Ford borrows design elements from MAzda for it's 4cyl engines/chasis.....Mazda gets Ford trucks. While the Tribute is designed by mazda it uses ford parts and was made FOR ford. It was such a good vehicle for mazda because there was a huge void in that line up. The 3.0L in the Mazda 6 IS a ford Duratec motor. The 2.3L in the Focus is a MVIC (sp?) motor....it was made by ford for ford.

Anymore questions I can answer?...oh also, I have a 2.3L motor sitting in my garage as we speak.

No thanks, I was told by techs that it was a ford engine at Al Smith in raleigh N.C, no one ever really gave me facts. I mite persue further into this engine.

Thank You
