Between this car, the Pontiac G8, The Camaro, and the Chevy Cobalt SS/TC, I'd say GM is on a little bit of a roll here.

Pay no attention to those things and just focus on the fact that it has a skull on the intake. For that reason alone, it is made of pure win.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA that's awesome! And yes. It is made of pure w1n!!!(laugh)

Maybe at a drag strip, but there's a bit more to this than just an engine. The Z06 and ZR1 are lighter and have better suspensions and brakes than the base 'Vette. Last time I checked, you don't get 15.5" carbon-ceramic brakes on the $45k versions of it.

Or the reliability of the ZR1's engine. That twin turbo would be pushin it at 700hp every day.

You know, the sad thing about this Vette is with the new fuel laws being passed they say this most likely will be the last BIG HP Vette made.

Not gonna happen. They won't sell enough of these for it to make a dent in their corporate CAFE average.

i don't really get why they say that because aren't the numbers fleet-wide? so the 500 of these a year aren't going to have the slightest dent in the overall numbers when they sell 500,000 trucks

ps - how do the cafe standards apply to ferrari, lamborghini, etc...? maybe chevy could set up a similar subcompany for supercars that gets around the standards

Automakers who produce less than 10,000 vehicles worldwide are exempt.

It would have to be a separately controlled corporate entity, not just another brand like GMC or Pontiac currently are.

yea they'd have to set it up as a company owned by the holding company not related to chevy directly. though regulators might have difficulty approving that since they'd probably still share a lot of functions, equipment and physical space so it wasn't cost prohibitive to produce

I don't think it's as complicated as that. Ferrari is owned by Fiat, Lambo is owned by VW/Audi, etc. There are not really a lot of truly independent companies these days.

that's true. they'd have to set themselves up however those others are set up whether it's a fully separate division under the holding company, a wholly owned subsidiary, etc..., stuff that's beyond my level of financial understanding

And at that point they'd lose a lot of the "good ole boy" customers because it doesnt say Chevy on it...
