Latest photos from Death Valley capture a prototype of the 2008 Chevy HHR SS. The prototype has a completely new front bumper, with a large under-bumper opening feeding air to the turbos intercooler. The bumper differs from the standard HHRs design in that this one is shaped more like an air dam, decreasing the amount of turbulent air that gets pushed under the vehicle when driven at speed. The new design also gets rid of the ugly rectangular bumperettes that are part of the retro styling of the standard model. Tires are low-profile Michelins on alloy wheels, mounted to a firmed-up, sport suspension.

Engine is reportedly the 2.0 liter direct injected Ecotec Turbo also used on the Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Red Line. In those vehicles the turbocharged and intercooled engine puts out a healthy 260 horsepower. Four-wheel disk brakes with ABS are standard. Transmission will be a five-speed using a short throw shifter. Interior amenities include special seats with the SS logo, and a turbo boost gage mounted on the drivers A-pillar.
Look for the new SS to be added to the HHR lineup this fall as a 2008 model.

I dislike the HHR. Chevy should have never killed the Cobalt SS S/C.

Hm. Funny how the HHR was released after the the head of the PT Cruiser development team wound up at GM's doorstep. Even funnier that they both have turbo models now. Could we see the same degree of rivalry we see with Evos and STIs. Only time will tell.

oi.. I'm just thinking of the wasted money going towards R&D and advertising for this big turd of a car.

never raced one, but they are 200hp (at crank) stock right? If thats the case I dont see why I wouldnt be able to take one or at least hang with it.

Well they are suppose to be 205hp but alot of of them are dynoing higher numbers. My cousin owns a GM performance stage 3 Cobalt S/C and its making close to MS3 power.

both are a waste of money (HHR @ PT Cruiser)

It's kinda hard to imagine how one could possibly make it any uglier without actually trying to.

Yea another big mistake buy chevy. Its like they get into the tuner market for two yrs and then kill the car. The S/C is what made that car sell. Nice job retards. And they wonder why their sales are down. Because they have morons running the company

Well, the reason chevy HAD to kill the supercharged cobalt is because it didn't meet new stricter emmissions requirements. They have stated they plan on bring it back once they work out that issue.
