The Z is also faster than the S2000. I think it might be a drivers race however. The Z is a tad on the heavy side, usually about 3200lbs for a stick, add on another 150lbs for the track model, and I think another 200 for the convertible variant. Motor Trend Magazine has put the 350z as such:
287/274 - 5.3sec 0-60 - 13.77sec@100.94mph qtr mile
287/274 convertible - 5.8sec 0-60 - 14.2sec@98.2mph qtr mile
300/260 convertible - 5.7sec 0-60 - 14.3sec@98.7mph qtr mile
For 2003-2005 it was 287hp, except for the 35th anniversary and track models which were 300hp. 2006 was 300hp and added variable exhaust (all models have variable intake). With the new twin intake VQ I'm figuring they should finally get a sub 5 second 0-60 time, but who knows?
I went to a MTMA fun run a little while ago and there were two kids with MS3's. I wanted to race them with my WRX just to see what they were like, but once the kids heard what I had done to my WRX, they said there wasn't any point.
FWIW - I'm not that great of a driver with my WRX(or at least to common WRX thinking). I don't beat on my car, and I don't launch it either. I usually just drive it off the line, if I want a little more I might bring the revs up to like 2500 and slip the clutch up to about 3500. I've had tons of WRX/STI owners assure me I am not going to damage anything by revving up to 5k and launching the car - I'm just not believing them. Assuming someone can nail their launch, they should destroy me or at least get a nice jump.
My stock clutch lasted me 70,000 miles, and was still fine, only slipped at high rev shifts for a moment. I replaced it with an Exedy Organic Stage 1 simply because I wanted to see the difference. I figured the stock clutch didn't owe me anything.
