2006 Mazda Speed6

Hey. My brother just got a 2006 Mazda Speed6 a few months ago and now he has decided he wants to start modding it. He doesn't have the time to come online and find out what types of things he can do so I decided to do it for him.

He doesn't want to go crazy (bigger turbo) or anything like that he just wants to stick with bolt-ons. (intake/exhaust/header/intercooler.....)

What do you guys suggest for his car. What are the best types of intakes/exhausts/headers/etc.....for his car.

Also we live in southern Cali the highest octane gas we have here is 91. I've heard some people saying that the Mazda Speed6 should really run on 93. Is that true?

in mazda.ca, it says 93 is recommanded, but 91 is "acceptable"
i once put in 91...and i can tell you, the car's responses very very poorly...
then on, i only put in 94...which is only offered in Sunoco in Toronto, Canada

Yes, it is true, the Speed6 should run on 93, but nothing bad with 91...but believe me, putting 93 makes a hell of a difference!

This car doesnt need a header...the intake doesnt make much of a difference either unless you are -55 degrees...then go ahead, but you will probably pull half a car on a stock Speed6, thats how much of a difference the intake does on turbo cars. This car is very restrictive, and any change in the exhaust system can give you plenty of ponies.

I recomment the CPE or ATP Catless DOwnpipe and the CPE exhaust for better gains...the whol turboback exhaust should give you a good gain...my friend (MS6Mike) had an intake and a cpe catless dp and pulled 3 cars on me, and was still pulling!

There's a top mount intercooler upgrade from ETS thats works great too...good gains too. CPE is releasing soon a front mount that we are still waiting for.

Also, the Engine Management System. Not here yet.

You can change all of that stuff but without tuning your not gonna see that big of a difference. Even with a turbo back and intake and new intercooler....your still gonna need tuning. These vendors are advertising 25whp from an exhaust and 20whp from a downpipe alone...what they dont tell you is how many dynos they ran before they got that number....they take there highest dyno and post it...not the average....the highest...They will expect you to belive that you could make 65+whp from Intake, exhaust and an intercooler...not gonna happen.....trust me. I have all that stuff and theres not even close to that much of a gain..maybe 10-15whp.

downpipe and exhaust and you will notice a hell of a difference, cold air intake as well. even without a tune it is a considerable difference.

CAI, Downpipe, and catback will let this car breathe alot better. Just like -69- said, even without a tune you will make good power. My friends speed 6 made a little over 260awhp Intake, custom 3 " Downpipe and Catback, BOV ...His car made 225 awhp stock on a mustang dyno
