2005 RSX Pics *new*with real pics*

don't like the front end. I like the older headlights. The taillights are a big improvement though. I like them better. 17x7 wheels..awesome. What would be sweet is if they put on the older jdm ITR headlights on the front as stock units. Taht would look slick

as former rsx owner i prefer the old look better, the rims are nicer on this though and the new tailights are pretty cool

Looks like Acura stole some 05 Altima headlamps and slapped them on the RSX.

Um, it's ok I guess, or getting better(?)....still just can't get excited about that car....I'm not even a Honda fan (at all), and I still like the Integra better....

i like the old style head and tail lights with the dips or "titties" as some would say.

Up a Notch: Acura improves the already fun RSX for 2005

2005 ACURA RSX TYPE-S

DRIVETRAIN: 2.0-liter, 210-hp, 243-lb-ft I4; fwd, six-speed manual
CURB WEIGHT: 2840 pounds

In a quest to raise the RSX sport coupes image and performance to the level of upcoming premium entry-level models from Audi (A3) and BMW (2 Series), Acura has infused its 2005 RSX lineup with more of what already made it one of our top picks for front-drive fun.

Unless you are an RSX cognescenti, youll have to look closely to notice the exterior changes. Both RSX and Type-S receive new front and rear bumpers, while the Type-S features a unique rear decklid spoiler. Chunky side skirts are also new, as are the headlights and taillights, which eschew the former teardrop look in favor of squared-off pieces. Type-S gets a larger exhaust tip, while each car features new, more supportive sport seats. Both boast mildly spruced-up interior trim, but neither exterior nor interior mods are worth trading in your old model.

The worthwhile changes are hidden from view. Both cars benefit from a stiffer body, a 5 percent-quicker steering ratio and stiffer steering rack. Engineers increased front spring rates and rear suspension travel, and added stiffer antiroll bars. The changes drop the ride height 7mm while improving grip and ride comfort, according to Acura.

We drove the Type-S back to back with the 2004 modelalready a voracious corner carverand felt the improvements instantly. Along with the revised suspension, the larger 17-inch Michelin all-season tires provide noticeably more grip and traction than the old wheel/tire/suspension combo, especially when accelerating through corners. We would welcome a limited-slip differential, but the new setup is a big improvement, especially in light of the 2.0-liter iVTEC engines increased power.

Thanks to new, longer-duration cams, a larger intake tube and redesigned exhaust, horsepower improves by 10 to 210 at 7800 rpm. Torque barely increases from 242 lb-ft to 243, but it builds all the way to 7000 rpm, whereas the previous version peaked at 6000. (The standard RSX engine is unchanged.) A shorter final-drive ratio is also standard on the Type-S.

It takes only a few laps around a twisty road course to recognize the RSX still sets the benchmark for all-around, front-drive grins. At the end of a short backstraight, we were consistently 5 mph faster with the 05 than with the 04. Brakes also work better due to greater master-cylinder boost and less pedal travel; where we felt the 04 cars brakes fade on several occasions, we only did so once on the 05, and that was after an extended lapping session. From steering and shifter feel to chassis predictability and NVH, the car is more comfortable and sounds sharper than its predecessor.

The new RSXs are on sale now, priced a bit higher than 2004 models. The base car with five-speed manual starts at $20,745, the Type-S at $24,140 (up $150 and $250, respectively).

I like it, but wonder why they moved the power band even further to the right? An extra 10 hp is great, but at 7000 RPM....who cares.
Not exactly useable.

stupid article said:

Since when does honda make engines that have more torque then horsepower?

(lol) that was a typo

it should say 142 and 143 (hand)
