my 2005 mazda 6 (4 cyl, AT) recently developed a high rev problem. i'll be on the freeway and notice that barely touching the throttle will make a noticeable lurch forward when barely touching the throttle and a noticeable backward lurch when i barely remove foot from accelerator.
then when i get off the freeway the car will act very reluctant to downshift and by the time i get to a stop it continues to idle at about 1200rpm.
turning the car off and then back on (even immediately) has fixed this problem. i was driving about 150 miles tonight and it did it every 20 minutes or so. i would get off the freeway, it would reluctantly shift down from 4 to 3 to 1 and the idle at 1200rpm, put it in park idle a little higher, turn engine off and back on and car was back to idling at about 800rpm.
one time i put it in neutral when it was idling at 1200rpm and it shot up to about 4000rpm.
my transmission fluid was changed about 6 months ago and levels are fine (fluid is red).
any ideas if this is a computer, transmission, dirty part problem? thanks!
