i have a 2003 msp when i give it gas and the boost is at 5psi around 4000 rpm it runs outta power until you let off the gas and then slowly start to accelerate do you have any ideas..

It sounds like fuel....I used to have the same prob til I got a Unichip...now the only prob I have is the car runnin too rich...needs a good tune! O yea is it cold outside when u notice this problem? if it is its definitely fuel cut

Try getting a SplitSecond AFC. That way you can tune it yourself to level out how lean/rich you need or want it to be. I had the fuel cut, and ended up just tuning some and I got rid of it. It was awful fuel cut, it would jerk the crap out of you and give you whiplash. It would jerk, fall on it's ass, then you would have to ease it back up carefully past 4K rpms, and once it was past that it was fine. But yeah, that sounds like what it is, mine happened at 4K rpms too. Seems to be the usual spot for it to happen. It's just your engine trying to save itself.

Metallic...is the Split Second AFC end user friendly? Like could i mess with A/F ratio easily with no other side effects?

I will just add this, I love the SS afc, and even though the damn boxes won't stay expanded when your tuning them, that is really the only "bad thing" that I don't like about it, other than that, you don't have to send it out or anything like the Unichip which I think is a PITA just to tune it.. just need to make sure you have a wideband to tune (which you do, so youd be set).. and I hear the Unichip boost controlling spikes a lot among some other problems.. my brother just got a new MSP that has unichip.. not really excited to see how it goes with the tuning and with all the mods it has

but on topic... I would go with the fuel cut like everyone else.. seems there are tons of threads popping up about this lately.. dono why because it is getting warmer but whatever.. maybe its just the fact that more people are getting their MSPs out if they don't drive it in the winter

thank you all for your input. now just have to find the time to do all the work to it. i see that some people have a production number on there profile where do i find that.

Yes, it is.. there are many maps that you can upload onto the ECU and take it from there, edit them slightly and get the effects you want.

oh ya didn't see you were in Canada... that kinda sucks (about the production # I mean lol) but oh well only good is for your sig, I would like to find out which number out of the 600 spicys mine is, would be much cooler than just the number out of the bunch of 2003 versions

Thanks Man I Looked But Its Not There In 2003 Or 2003.5 What Dos That Mean

Start by replacing the WGA with a Forge or ATP unit then if you still have the problem get an EMS

you think the fuel cut or whatever would really have to do with his wga?.. unless I missed it, I don't think he said he had any boost problems, but he should let us know, if your boost is crapping out then, than ya that is almost definitely the problem (wga) but personally I think if its fuel cut which is what it sounds like, ss afc would really be the way to fix that.. just my opinion, not sure how wga would cause effects like that

can someone tell me why or how a wga would fix the problem.. he didn't say anything about boost so I just don't know how that could be a likely solution.. not disagreeing or anything, I just can't see the link between wga and jerking or something at 5k rpm? (or whatever he said)

My wga went out on my old speed (RIP) and that's exactly what it did. I would get going and it would cut out anywhere btwn 3500-5000 rpms. It felt exactly like fuel cut does. I didnt have a boost gauge at the time so i didnt know how much boost i was running...took it to the mechanic and he said i was boosting 13 psi went to the mazda dealer fixed the wga and didnt have an issue with it after. In this case however, its not his wga since he said he's only boosting 5 psi....it's fuel cut all the way. Not trying to step on anyone's toes just wanted to lend some of my experience
