No... she's definitely not padding the truth. If anything the dealer blew some wind to her instead. I'll have to get that paperwork from her from the actual sale and figure it all out. Nonetheless it's still a great car but I remember her telling me about her payments at $600/month when she first got it and I nearly fell off my chair. Albeit it wasn't at 5 years or anything but still. Crazy. Thanks again for all the help. Perhaps we'll have to end this thread soon!

Dude, the canadian MSRP for the P5 base (no AC, no sunroof, no leather, manual) for the 2002 model was $19,895. AC, sunroof, leather and auto tranny were all $1000 each. That would make it $23,895 plus tire+delivery+AC fees lets say another 1K say $24,895 plus 7% Alberta tax in 2002 of about $1,700 would make it $26,600. All this with no negotiating. That means your lady friend paid $5,400 CAD for a universal intake, header and catback exhaust. Heck lets just spell it out for her. SHE GOT PWNED.

Actually, it's completely believable that it came new that way from the dealer, just not from Mazda. Dealers are more than happy to put $200 worth of stuff on a car and sell it as a $600 special package!

fyi, those seats look like they're northwest leather out of canada...i have them as well!
