Whas Up Everybody:

Ive got a question about the 2002.5 Leather Seats. Its getting close for me to condition/ treat the seats, but I was told by someone that the seats arent really leather; theyre vinyl. So I dont know if to use Lexol leather cleaner and condition, or their vinyl cleaner.

Thanks

They're Leather...sort of

The seating faces (the part your body touches) are leather. The sides and backs are vinyl (it said so in the brochure). The steering wheel, the perforated panels in the doors, and the shift knob are leather also. I use Meguires Gold on the seats and door panels on our '03 P5. Jim

I believe they call it leatherette or something. I may be mistaken but I've heard that it's supposed to be a bit more durable than leather in terms of fading and/or cracking. Doesn't matter to me as long as it ain't cloth. I have a constant battle with dog hairs.

So What Will Happen

Thanks for the replies

What would happen if I used the Lexol cleaner and conditioner on the vinyl??

I talked to a guy who does upholstery here in So Cal and he told me that the majority of all stock leather seats have vinyl on the sides and back or some other stiffer leather like fabric that I can't remember what he called. He does the same with his jobs.

I just might get my seats done by this guy because he uses Conelly leather which is the same that Katzkin uses on their upholstery. He even does embroidery. Of course I'll have to budget this out once I call him back for a quote. which I still want to stop by his shop and get a quote so I don't know yet how much it'll be but i'm sure it won't be too cheap considering his shop is next the Boyd Coddington shop. (for those Hot Rodders)

Anyway for those of you interested here's his site and he's pretty good about calling back right away.

The Meguires hasn't caused any problems on my seats and doors, but then they said it wouldn't. Like you, I wasn't sure, so I asked the manufacturer of the stuff. Jim
