Hey Everybody,

I've been reading these forums for quite a while and learned a lot about my vehicle. Had a bad experience with a mechanic in Maryland and after I got to Florida decided to take a more hands on approach with any simple mechanical repairs.

With that being said, 2 weeks ago my vehicle had a P303 code - cylinder 3 misfire. The car had a lot of problems when it was idling the RPMs were too high (2k+).

So I purchased and installed 4 Bosch Platinum Spark Plugs, and also replaced both coil packs. I also ran Techron fuel injector cleaner.

After that the problem went away for a couple of days until it started having problems with acceleration sticking every time the gas pedal was pushed after coming to a complete stop. From the outside it must look like my vehicle has a standard transmission and i have no clue how to drive stick!

Anyway the check engine light came back on and was flashing more often than before so I checked the code and now it does not idle at a high RPM but its a Random Misfire (P300).

I am also only averaging a HORRIBLE 17mpg now!

Here is where I am looking for help... I need to know what else it could be and suggestions on how to fix this problem myself, as there are no other codes...

I believe it could be any of the following:

Bad spark plug wires
Bad fuel injectors
Bad EGR Valve

Obviously I don't want to have to replace all of the above but I do drive all over for work so need this to be fixed ASAP.

Thanks in advance!

switch to copper plugs, and or pull out your current ones and see what color they are..brown is normal, black is rich and white is lean
