1st time at track

I just ran at the local track here last night, about 120+ cars easily, I should have brought a camera..it was ******* sick, took 2 hours to get into the staging lanes to run. I ran a 16.1 at 90 mph on 215/35/18 pieces of s*** tires, no ******* traction...with a 2.3 60ft, not bad considering traction problem. The tires spun like crazy giving me some crazy drift all over the track until the 60 ft mark and a bit after, then it settled down and I put the peddle down. I was running at 10 psi with a FPR, and that's it. The car will certainly run into the low 15's with traction and hit high 14's if I'm lucky. This just goes to show you, if your going to run, and want a good time, don't run 35 series tires with 40 psi of pressure (stock would have been better then what I've got now). Yeah yeah, I should have lowered the pressure before I ran, well I lowered them to 25 psi for the next round which never came.

Races were fun, but I only got one run, waited about 1 hour in the staging lanes and then gave up and went home at around 1 a.m.

I'm sure my top speed would go up a few mph as well. Anyway, I'm going to try and get some steelies and some drag radials for protege fest, I really want to run well down there, lower elevation and all I would like to see high 14's (14.99 would make me happy).

On a side note, my buddy with his glorified NEON (srt4) ran a 13.7...goddamn his car is fast. He's dropped some money into it though and states he's running at 17 psi, lucky bastard. He beat out a modded WRX with turbo/internals upgraded who ran a 13.9.

Overall, it was a blast except for the long ass wait in line. That sucked ass, not that I know what sucking ass is like....

i had my first day at the track on sunday also. got 6 runs in. first run, i messed up and did a 16.9! next i did a 15.6, 15.3, 15.0. messed up again, and did a 15.3. on my last run, i got a 14.9. i guess i did ok. kinda hard to believe my car is even close to being fast when youre lining up with all these muscle cars! on that 14.9 run, i was with a lighting. it ran 11.3...damn...haha

Drags are interesting because you can see the diference between a 14 second car and a 9 second car.

*sigh* speed costs cash!

I'm trying to find some drag radials for protege fest, doubt I will get something worked out in time though. I just don't feel like spending $450.00 for two rims and some drag radials, but it may be worth it. If anyone is using them now, please let me know what size rim and offset and what size drag radial your using. I want to go with the g-force BFG drag radials 205/40/17 but I need some cheap 17's, I sold my stock ones and put 18's on...damn me to hell...arghhhh

The best time i got at the track was a 14.9 that was my second time at the track.

Yeah it seems weird,,everyone I talked to said it should have run faster.....two thing happened though. Once in second and boost his 10 psi, I lose traction all over again...so that sucked...then when I was heading to the trap I was getting that not so good feeling about running at 10 psi, thinking a KA-BOOM was coming, so I let off and settled the boost to around 7 psi......It was all driver error on my behalf.....letting off killed my time...should have been an easy low 15, to high 14 with no problems. We'll see what happens at protege fest when I can run more then one time...should be a bit better but traction is still going to be a problem. I'm going to try what everyone says and leave at around 2K rmp then feather in the clutch if I start to lose traction again. This is my first time at the tract with a front wheel drive car. The last time as was at a tract was with a rear wheel drive car...so there is a learning curve here.
