yesterday i was pulling into my driveway and i heard a loud pop, i was not sure what it was but, i thought to myself that it must be the clunk that i always read about. a while later my wife and i are leaving and when i hit the gutter it makes the loud pop again, so i go and check it out. the sway bar bushing braket was broke. is this a commen problem? this has never happend to me before with any other cars that i have owend. i mean it has always creaked on me but from what i understand that is normal-ish with the msp.

yes, its a very common problem for our cars. you can get a oe piece that is likely to have the same fate as your first one or get an aftermarket peice. which is high quality and will last longer

My friend makes these:

Got the CLUNK, get the FIX, Order a Clunk Fix Bracket Today.

I very very highly reccomend getting it! I just put mine on last week and it is amazing- not only does it get rid of the clunk problem for good, it also moves the bushings further out on the sway bar so you suspension is much tighter and increases your handling capabilities!!! I took a loop on the freeway the other day at over 50mph no joke..... it would fix your problem not to mention prevent it from the probably numerous times it is going to happen again.

I think I'm having the same issue. This happened about three days ago. Everytime I go over a bump or small ditch, I get this loud noise from my front passanger side wheel that sounds like a hard bang on to the road. Like if my wheel was being slammed onto the street. At first I thought I blew a shock, but when I got on the door sill of the passanger side and jumped on it to see if the strut was blown , it wasn't. Now I just don't know what the hell it is, but this thread has helped narrow down the problem. My question is that I just don't know what I'm looking for. I believe the red rod under our car is the sway bar, but isn't there also another one in the rear. There is also one on the front, but that is on top of the struts in the engine bay. Do we have two front struts, one underneath and one on top? Im sorry for the book, but the noise is pissing me off and I really want the info so I can learn more about my car.

I have the same problem on my drivers side front wheel. during brake replacement yesterday i couldnt find a damn thing loose or wrong. does it sound like a pop/clunk thats easily hearable? im thinking to start looking at my bushings for the sway bar. Just letting you know someone else has the problem too.

From what i understand the bushings are normally what goes bad, not the whole bracket breaking. I have read 100's of posts about bogus bushings, but not a cracked off bracket. Either way, Warrantee work is the easy temporary solution, or upgrade for a permanent solution.

well the silver bar on the top is the strut tower brace, and the red bar on the bottom is your sway bar. If you go over bumps at speed, i find you do get a bang noise simply because of the speed of it. One common problem for the front, however, is to have a creak noise, especially when cold, caused by the bushings needing grease. "The clunk" that they refer to is just for the rear end.

FWIW, i've had the dealer replace my rear bushings with the "E" series replacements (they had one with a part number ending in "D" and those were only supposed to last for a few days). For about 6 months, i've been clunk free. I think i may be starting to hear it again though, its hard to tell.

When I first got it, that is what I did. I just replaced the stock bushings but because of the dumb place they are located its just a matter of time before they go again. I would reccomend that if you just replace your bushings upgrade at least to polyurethane (i know i didnt spell that right LOL) ones so they dont ware out so quick... as for putting in the sway bar bracket it relocates the bushings so you dont have the problem anymore, wont have to worry about it, and you get MUCH better handling. I can take loops on the freeway at over 50mph since putting that thing on.

i had my bracket replaced with a new one, i am happy that it was done under warranty. i guess it was a first for the dealership also but, two days later the bushings started to creak again. not a big problem just a little annoying.

yea i bought evolves bracket months ago. hasnt made a sound since i installed it. you cluck will keep coming back until you get this. plus the car is on rails with it!

I actually figured out what was the noise I was getting. Ha ve you seen how the front sway bar is held? Well, one of the locking nuts came off meaning that my sway bar is only attached by one side. I will be getting the replacement nut to re-install the sway bar.
