Hi all,

I just wanted to drop in and post about my new "eco modder" project. His name is Ryan "The Green Machine" I am desiring to improve Ryan's MPGs above and way beyond factory specs. My goals are 50 mpg HWY. I discovered "Ryan" has two different tail lights, one has to be from an older model and I am guessing it is the one that stays smooth down the back of the car as opposed to jutting out like the other side and the center section do, but who knows. All I know is I need to find a matching one for one side or the other because the mis match thing isn't working for me.

I have a battery of tests I want to run on the car and then log MPGs, then I will start mods for MPG gain and new tests and logs.

Here is a link to an ad with Ryan's pictures on it in Austin's Craigslist... He is not for sale... it is just an ad I put up looking for some stuff.

forget "Hydrogen Generator"

put your money in reducing rolling resistance, tires , ect...

and put your time in study of electronic engine controls....hopefully yhis is not an automatic tranny. If it is , then start over with a 5-speed...and learn to drive slow

Opps! it is an auto... I still say sell it for a manual.

That is the only way to "go farther on E than has ever been done before"

Yes Auto... oh well too much $$$ to do a conversion to recoup the $$$ in fuel savings for how long I will likely own the car.

I am already thinking about selling it and getting a brand new Accent 5spd to eco mod the heck out of...

but on a side note... over 186 miles with a lot of the body seams taped up with the blue painter's tape and the windshield wipers removed the car got between 37-41 mpg on between 4.5-5 gallons of 87 octane!!!!

Not bad for an automatic... that was attempting to maintain constant speeds, drafting a bit on a semi, and very little coast in neutral....

I was stoked since my goal is 50 mpg with the automatic intact...

I do need to figure out something with tires though.

I am looking at some of the BS gadgets and tricks too... just to see what results I can get.

I am making a magnetic device to play with the fuel, not sure on a tornado like device for the intake and then of course considering the hydrogen electrolizer too.. I would pretty much only do what I can build myself though.

However a few semi permanent body mods are in line and perhaps some smooth wheel covers also...

I love this car though...

I suggest the wiper removal for anyone... just keep a 12mm socket in the car and the caps, nuts, and wiper blades in your truck or hatch to put on in the event of freak rain storms... or if it looks like rain. I am leaving them off until needed in my case though. It doesn't rain much in the summer in Texas...

oh and always stay washed and waxed too... eases up on the drag... also clay barring the windshield helps too... or using a product called Glass Scrub, I found it at Wal Mart. I have a longer (HOTTER) trip planned for the car in July and with no AC (yeah, it's gonna SUCK BALLS) I have hopes of 45-50 mpg for that trip and hope to have it washed, clayed, and waxed for that trip plus maybe my rear wheel well covers also...
