18" sub in Mazda 6

When purchasing my Mazda, I asked the saleman (which is also my buddy) if he thought I could fit a badass stereo in the trunk. He told me to go big or go home. I don't think he was expecting me to put and 18" in there.
This sub sounds amazing... Nice clean crisp, LOUD, sound. No speaker noise at all. Car is also equipped with J/L components all around.

I always love feedback. Let me know what you guys think.

I was thinking the same thing... on another note I dont eve know where to get a sub that big right off hand, but then again im not that big into car audio either.

I use to have a sweet audiobahn setup but it was stolen outta my driveway...
2 amps 2 12's my flip up along with my i pod, phone charger some money blahhh.

Depends on the application...

I have a pair of 15s in my home theater @ 500w apiece (Definitive Tech powered towers FTW!)
No way in hell I'd want/need that in my 3. I'd be more likely to try and fit a 10 (at most) in the jack compartment.

Maybe I'm just getting too old to be an installer... or maybe I'm just picky as hell. Yes, that's a big sub... and I'm sure it loud as hell.... so... I hope you at least cleaned up your install, cause the wiring looks like crap.

Yeah I've seen those before... With an MSRP of $8200.00... I'm going to have to take a pass. It'll also probably cost the same amout to power it...

...my mistake, thought it was (rediculous to put that much added weight in a speed car).......rock on then........how many DB's u hitten? just as a reference i was hitting 148db w/ 2 w7 8's in a custom fiberclass encloser w/ a jl 500/1.... (used to be an installer at a stereo shop)

yeah If I had the speed, I probably wouldn't have put this 300lb box in the trunk... I hit a 144 db at 34hz. If you understand how low of a frequency that is, you'd appreciate it alot more. Most people that run spl usually pick a frequency around 44-48hz. @ 34 hz, my steering wheel is shaking so much, that it makes it dangerous to drive.

Oh and for the guy who was scared that the sub was facing up, and someone would steal it; my privacy cover still fits snug on top of the sub, so when I'm parked, you can't even tell I have a stereo. (I still even have my factory cd player... HA)

You could put out a ton more SPL with multiple tens than a single 15. You get a 3db couple effect off multiple drivers which is a free 50% output increase. Worked great when I helped build the Gates Bronco back in 96, all 46 of them!

I'm not really going for the "Loudest stereo in Canada" award, and it was a total impulse buy when I saw that sub. I also like peoples reactions when they see the sub for the first time...
