July's Modified mag has an article on the MSP pp. 94-98. They ran a baseline at 134.4 whp/145.4 ftlbs then added a K&N cone filter, an Unorthodox Pulley and tires(?) and pulled a peak of 150.2 whp/156.3 ftlbs.

Sport Car International magazine July has an article on a Yellow 3.5 and they basically said the same thing as last year...torque steer, hesitation etc. Good promo pics though.

thats kinda low baseline hp dont you think??
That seems reasonable, a little on the low side maybe, but it depends on the dyno primarily, along with all the other smaller factors.

Didn't SpicyMSP's baseline at the same numbers?

Do a search people say pulleys arent good. especially with turbo.

I know FM makes a few comments about it.

why wouldn't a pulley be good?
because you are completely removing the harmonic balancer. there is no way to incorporate it.
but still some say they have had trouble free driving with it (on the crank)

I'm pretty sure that magazine does its testing just like all the others down in So. Cal. Keep in mind that it is hot as balls here in Cali right now so it's not surprising that it is a little lower than other Magazines. It's the change though in pwoer and torque we are interested in anyway so who cares.

wut happen to redemption... he is the only one in board that i heard with pulley in the car...

Crank pulleys make me (nervous) !

I have heard a lot of Bimmer guys do not use them due to the fact that they will really screw up that motor.. .maybe it's the same for others

I had pullies installed on my civic for a year and no problems!

I remember all the hype about removing the harmonic balancer and screwing up the engine... I didn't find one at all on the civic!

The Bimmer guys don't use them if they also have a lightweight flywheel...otherwise they do.

I just bought the mag.. it says the baseline is 146 hp and 151.1 tq... not 132..

I think I am going to go ahead and get the pulleys.. I mean, sooo many people put them on their cars and have no problems.. has any one actually talked to someone that has had engine problems due to them? or did you just "hear" someone did??

I had them on my nissan for a couple of years. sr20de. I used to rev the snot out of that little 2.0 up to 8k and I never had any problems with them. I believe the crank is balance on the nissan as well as on the pully. does the protege have this?

Nice Ride phastM3!

mazdaspeed Mike,

I remember reading that the MP3's and the MSP's do have a balanced crank, but don't quote me on this!
