'11 Speed3 Up-Grade Ideas?

The problem with the limit of the stock pump is that scaffolds seems to be different. I am at 18.albs of boost and I have seen spikes up to 19.3 and I am fine. Others says they can't hold 1600psi of FP past 16-17psi. It's a damned throw out pump that should have been addressed when they revised for the second Gen Speed3.

Under Body Pics

Well, here are some of more pics of the Speed3. What exhaust system do you guys like? I might be getting a new one. lol I'm thinking Borla.

I only paid like 700 for it. Free shipping. How much is the borla? I was under the impression it was like 600.

From looking at CorkSports sight, it looks like the this is what I saw:

AUTOEXE Sports Muffler 2010+ Mazdaspeed 3

Price: $1,140.00

I still like/love Borla. Just not sure if our Speed3s' really need the performance muffler.

I've never really heard or had a borla product so I really don't have anything to go off of. I just know that my CPE sounds awesome. Either way, I'm sure it'll sound nice.

Heck. I'm thinking about traiding the Speed3 in for a NEW '11 Speed3 since 0% finance for 60 months PLUS, no payments for 90 days.

CBE will only give you better sound, the stock exhaust flows very well so you will not get much if any HP gain. Now, if you upgrade your fuel pump and add a downpipe and tune you will see more HP gain.

Thanks Chris. That is what I've heard. I know I do not wish to add a downpipe since THAT will not be a cheap add-on. I know tuning will be a great power increase. I'm just trying to figure out if I wish to trade in this Speed3 for another NEW '11 Speed3 since there is 0% interest and $0 payment for 90 days.

This is typically true for most vehicles that we test, but on the Mazdaspeed3, a cat-back will definitely increase HP. We measured a 12 HP gain over the stock exhaust, with an aftermarket air intake and the Hypertech tune. There's more information on our testing under the heading "What about exhaust?" at this link. http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?123770357-Mazdaspeed-3-6-tuning-info-Part-3

I just ordered the Borla exhaust today!!!!!!! I'm having them send it straight to the body shop where my Speed3 is. Still about 2 more weeks until I get it back. ugh...

Be careful......that catless dp will increase the boost and tax the stock fuel pump. Its a recipe for disaster unless you upgrade that pump or at least the internals.

I get my Speed3 back tomorrow!!!!! Today, they are putting the Borla and Downpipe on it. The other day, I placed some XPEL Carbon Film on the hatchback door. I will add more Carbon Film to it within the next few weeks.

I can't wait to hear how it sounds and runs.

Forgot to mention this, when I was out, with a bunch of different type of car folks, they always hear my car coming. They are very shocked to realize that the deep noise is from a MAZDA! I love how my car does not sound like some Honda or Toyota with that high pitch ricer noise. LOL

It's definitely a great sounding 4 banger, no question. With the catless DP, that helps the sound too. If you had just exhaust w/out DP, it would still be a little conservative.

Have you gotten an AP yet? For your mods, you definitely need the AccessPort. Fuel pump or internals should get on the car, especially now with winter and colder air. Check out our mod guide, this can help get you on a good track. It's not directions on how to modify, just a guide with ideas. EdgeAutosport.com's MS3 Mod Guide
