<'10 vs. +'12 individual component costs

:
2008 Mazda5 GT
Can someone explain why the +'12 panel cost $18 MRSP while the <'10 parts, which is "almost" the same, lists for $35.22 MRSP? I'm going to bet they will fit even though it is not listed as such. I find this consistent theme for most other parts...

Just look at the pictures - it's the sticker removal cost, obviously.

What panel is that?

Am I missing something? It looks like either you didn't finish your sentence or Tapatalk messed up.

Looks to me like the sticker is a rare valuable commodity. If the difference is only the slot hole on top, I'll go for the cheapest one.

if the parts are interchangable, just get the cheaper one. its possible that the manufacture location is different, or there is some texture different between the two.

it's on the sticker :D. Engine splash shield, passenger side covering the AC compressor. The price difference is nuts and the part is too unique for aftermarket options. Just glad there's a cheaper option. I'm dumbfounded there are quite a few items that are interchangeable with this price structure. I'm inclined to believe there's a supplier change. Here's to hoping the revised ones do not lack in quality.

Update: Replicas (except what's already noted about the sticker and the opening for one of the bolts) and $17 saved :)

The old panel "feels" harder but I believe this is due to it being "weathered" where the plastic has lost some flex. The new one is more flexible and shiny and bright. The gauge of the plastics appears to be identical and both have the same stamping. Oh, and Honda fasteners > Mazda fasteners (I hate Mazda/Ford fasteners).

Oh and shop smartly 1st gen'ers. If you need something, look into the 2nd gen. You just mind find stuff cheaper.
