07 or 08 ???

I am thinking about buying a CX7. Dealer has 1 left over demo 07.Will cut 4k off of price. He also has plenty of 08s to choose from. I want AWD.I have been reading this forum and it seems everyone has problems and complaints with this car. I have a Nissan Frontier -65k trouble free miles. I drove the 07 and it seemed like the next car for me - until I read this forum ! Is the 08 improved?? Thanks.

a lot of people here are getting 4k off a brand new one... I'd press them for a better deal, or shop elsewhere.

Yes, go for the 08, do not go with the 07!
The fact that it's one year old when you drive it off the lot is not a good thing.

The early build 07's had teething problems, late builds and new 08's seem trouble free.

Drive a hard bargain and get the 2008. 4K off an 07 is not that good. JMO I have a late model build 07 and have had zero problems. Ed

search for rogerbeasley Mazda in Austin, Texas. They have $5000 OFF on any remaining new 2007 CX-7 in stock!. Check that site they have remaining Grand Touring in stock with 5K Off.

I owned a 07 CX-7 with 0.0000 mile and have extend the waranty from 50.000 miles to 100.000 miles for 2,500$. I mean 5000$ is what some owner pay for one year . For my opinion that is not to bad, no one drove the car before, I'm driving under waranty , what's is there the difference if only the 5K and that after one year the value of the car goes down.

The 07 does include the extra 100,000m warranty. I am not so worried about making the best deal - I will beat the dealer down on either car. I just want to know if the 07 is a pile of problems. Has the 08 been improved alot. My personal rule for buying a new car has always been - never buy first year model.

I have a 07 GT AWD. No problems to report. A couple of reflashes at the dealer is all. I would go with the 08 just on the shear fact that you can run 87octane instead of the 91 or better required for the 07. Along with of course the fact that its not already a year old when you drive it off the lot.

Just because you can run 87 octane doesn't mean you should... if gas is that un-affordable, a CX-7 probably isn't the most economical choice.

Yeah well, some people just have that "oh my god, 91??!? That's SO expensive, I can't bring myself to spend extra thousands at the pump" problem, so if they need to use 89 or 87, it's no problem in the 08 CX-7's, but you will get reduced performance, and poor shifting.

91 octane is the recomended grade of fuel for the 2008. Warning of lower power, shifting quality and overall preformance if you drop down in octane although you may use it.

You follow the directions and obtain a pin which you take to the dealer. He must show you the car invoice with the S Plan price, which is basically invoice plus a few hundred dollars.

Difference in fuel...

I've had my '08 CX-7 almost 2 weeks now, and the first week put 91 octane in it (filled up twice... couldn't stop driving it!! so fun). The beginning of last week, the wife drove it and filled up with 87. I drove it Friday night, and could tell a big difference. So, Sat. morn, after washing it up for a fun day, I filled it up with 92. HUGE difference after a couple of miles... I was zooming all over Knoxville! Even outran a BMW 325i! hehe... that little punk was so frustrated!!!(drive)

So correct about the fuel....the dealer filled it up on delivery and I KNOW they used regular after feeling the difference with Sunoco 94 when I refilled the tank.

Tire pressure makes a huge difference in ride quality too!
